+1. Why didn’t they verify before offering admissions. What incompetence.
This way they could identify a cheaters and help detoxify TJ.
The TJ Admissions office did not. There are plenty of kids whose parents just signed the online free meals form and did not have to produce documentation.
Some cheaters were removed, but many were not.
This is not true. We fill out the form every year and have to provide corresponding government provided snap information.
The conspiracy nuts are trying to mislead people about this. I guess they believe doing so helps their case. As another poster suggested, I think this was a stroke of genius since it allowed the administration to weed out more of the toxic cheaters that have really hurt TJ's culture in recent years.

I really do not understand how this happened and want to give staff the benefit of the doubt. It just seems like such a careless/stupid error.
About ten years, I believe.
This doesn't bode well, “It's pretty clear that this is just another component of the long-term GOP program to carve off chunks of the public good for private profit,” said Hayes, the President of the TJ Alumni Action Group. “The Coalition for TJ has long been advocating strictly for the interests of the test prep industry in Northern Virginia. Two other appointees are both advocates for charter schools and for-profit schools as well. It's so nakedly corrupt. It's repugnant. Schools are for education, not for profit.”
Next stop, FCPS opens its first Hillsdale Charters and TJ announces a partnership with the prep industry which is even more expensive.

Yes, it's true, and that's a direct quote from an article linked above.
Classic. White dude throwing Asians under a bus to protect his own privilege. That’s a shocker.

Yikes.
Is that true?
