False. It has done just fine in Singapore and it's warm in Australia right now, where it is spreading. Further, FL has a large older population (high risk folks), a high population of crazies who make weird decisions, and it has a lot of int'l tourists. So FL is the last place I'd want to be now.

The virus is firmly under control in Singapore. It hasn't spread. One can also look at hot and humid countries like Vietnam and the Philippines, which, amazingly, have had minimal outbreaks despite huge urban poor populations living in extended shantytowns and close proximity to China.

The real question is whether or not hotter weather controls the spread of the virus rather than exacerbating it. It doesn't stop it outright. So far Florida isn't seeing the kinds of spread happening in the North. Or Arizona etc.

Minnesota hasn't been hit hard and it's cold there.

The success in Singapore is not thanks to the weather. Read about their actual strategies, which we have a lot to learn from. That's wishful thinking and making up your mind based on what you want to see. there's some news out today --wish I could find it now--about several countries in warmer climates that are reporting their first cases or first few cases. Please stop trying to rationalize your way into demonstrating the foolish behavior of traveling around the country to other communities.

NP. I was somewhat blase about COVID-19 since I am not in a risk category, and I know influenza, etc. are also serious and I feel like those are not taken seriously. I practice excellent hygiene and focus on what I can do. But I was not about to go into crisis mode about all this.

I do not want to panic, but I have changed my perspective significantly. The posts about flattening the curve are very persuasive. I have canceled travel plans and will not go into crowds for any reason now.

Thank you for posting about your changed perspective. We are only going to tackle this thing if everyone is on board and, like you, open to informing themselves and adjusting their behavior accordingly. I also want to thank you, as a fellow self-distanced for the next 2++ weeks, for keeping yourself home--you're adding to all the self-distancing that we need to do.

Would you do a driving trip for Spring Break? Say to Hilton Head and stay in a condo, wipe everything with a clorox wipe when you get there, cook/eat most meals there, etc? Trying to figure out what the risk would be.

I’m the poster you quoted. I wasn’t too worried until I started reading up here and read all sanitizer was sold out, and sure enough, it was. I never panicked. I just bought extra groceries. We keep our pantry pretty full, so it wasn’t a lot to buy. I always keep a supply of TP, tissues, paper towels here through Amazon, so I didn’t need any of that. There are only two of us. We always keep our cars full of gas and keep some cash on hand. I’m also the poster who has a spouse with terminal lung cancer, so I am very worried about the virus. We cancelled our family cruise. We are just staying home until this gets better. This forum is why I was prepared weeks ago.

I am in Orlando and as long as she stays where she is..she will be fine! We haven't had any coronavirus positives (YET) in Orlando or Kissimmee.

As for whether warm weather will negatively impact the virus--no one knows for sure. Experts think so far that it will not halt the virus, based on it doing just fine in warm weather right now. It may not have a "season" like influenza.
