Very interesting to me that Loudoun wouldn't let them use any of their fields, even for a few hours.

Not surprising - the target audience is in FFX county plus Loudoun already has an Aspire program.

Right but they playing under NVA which is part of Loudoun.

I think that's where they had tryouts.

My theory (based on absolutely nothing but speculation) is that RBFC helped pay for the new turf fields at Barron Cameron, so they will get the space there.

Yeah, sorry no way. They wouldn't have the money for that, and it would have been allocated/earmarked long ago.

And NVA just made a post about aspire tryouts and RBFC isn’t even mentioned lol

Its a bait and switch. No one will come out for RBFC but they will for NVA.

And no one from Aspire will make a GA roster at NVA. Save your money.

Agreed! Better off staying at your current club and waiting to see if RBFC can even put teams together that can compete. Let the club prove they can deliver on teams at every age group. Don't waste of a year of development for your kids.

It’s really hard to imagine how they do that. They’re nestled between GFR, McLean and Herndon which have struggled to put competitive teams in both genders simultaneously for years. Each has has its successes here and there but honestly until 2-3 of them merge it’ll continue to be hard to compete with NVA/Loudoun, SYC, Arlington, etc who have spent decades building.

If they do what other clubs haven’t and focus on the girls side they could actually be successful. They are right by Herndon and Sterling who are doing the exact opposite, plus they have the Aspire pathway. No clubs seem to want to do this though, so I doubt it will happen.

Aspire is not a pathway.

-It's more of a pathway than ECNL RL... Aspire promotes Clubs to into GA.

You think Riverbend will be promoted to GA? Sorry, but the GA market is completely maxed out in NoVa. Not a chance that is happening. If these girls are good enough to play GA, they should just go try out for GA teams....

They are 3rd and 4th team girls looking for an easy way to get a badge on their jersey rather than develop and earn it.

The girls who are being forced to play in Riverbend don't give a crap about Aspire or badges. They just want to play soccer with their friends and were perfectly happy being in NCSL. It's RP and ML that are forcing this Aspire move.

Why is anyone being "forced" to play in Riverbend?

A couple of TMs connected to Riverbend, ML, and RP got some of the parents on a couple white teams riled up at GFR's OLD leadership. Really they just wanted to run a club themselves and needed bodies to make it happen. The "upset" TMs fanned the flames and their allies coerced the remaining parents to leave GFR through threats that "they knew" GFR was falling apart and wouldn't have teams and that "what's important is that the girls play together." The coerced parents felt forced to go along with the ride rather than move their DD to a different team where they didn't know anyone.

Wow! Tell us more! RP must have some David Koresh-style rizz, getting his lieutenants to rile up and coerce the masses!

Try sitting at a table with a TM (who later came out as a riverbend board member) in your face in front of the other parents asking you to sign on to leaving with your teenage DD crying. I gotta hand it to them, it was a good pressure tactic.

There's no TM or RP on the board or the staff: https://rb-fc.com/club/boardofdirectors

TM = Team Manager - Valencia was a TM at GFR, RP = Rado Pletka, GFR's disgrunted former TD who is associated with Loudoun East and now is trying to work with RBFC to build that club.

It’s $3k plus club fees for Aspire. Loudoun is charging $2800 plus club fees, so comparable.

Loudoun has always been ridiculously priced. I get they have a ton of facilities but they have 7 million in revenue and pay their top 4 employees are almost a million in compensation! The TD alone makes over $200k base salary! Arlington's TD makes $50k less than that and ASA has higher revenue!

Info provided to parents either in offers or by TD says that Riverbend/NVA Aspire teams will pay $3k in registration, $800-1k in player fees, uniforms are separate ($250-300/each) and will practice on Fairfax County fields. Will not respond to which fields those are and whether it will be on turf or grass. So why are they charging MORE than Loudoun - it seems that there are absolutely no shared benefits between these teams and Loudoun so while the fees may be comparable, the services are much much less with Riverbend/NVA Aspire.

They are guaranteeing practice space on Fairfax County Fields? I don't think *anyone* can do that right now, field permits aren't generally issued until mid-Summer for the Fall and even those with historical use can't make that promise until they get their permits.
