Immediately after a verdict of guilty is entered before the court, the judge will schedule a federal sentencing hearing. Although a judge will normally impose a sentence on the same day with regard to a minor offense, any sentence for a felony will require some pre-sentence preparation.

Did she take the plea? Following is posted today ....

It is hereby ORDERED that the following schedule shall govern the sentencing
proceedings in this case:
1. sentencing in this matter is set for September 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in
Courtroom 23A;
2. the probation officer assigned to this case shall disclose the draft pre-sentence
investigation report to the parties no later than August 16, 2024;
3. counsel shall submit objections (if any) to the draft pre-sentence investigation
report to the probation officer no later than August 30, 2024;
4. the probation officer shall disclose to the parties and file with the Court the final
pre-sentence investigation report no later than September 6, 2024; and
5. any party wishing to submit a memorandum in aid of sentencing must do so no
later than September 13, 2024, with all responses (if any) due by September 18,
2024, and all such memoranda and responses thereto must cite to supporting legal
authority.

Hoppe deserves to spend the rest of her life in prison. Hopefully she rejects the plea deal and receives the sentence she deserves.

Hoppe could go to trial and receive less time through the new safety valve amendment for mandatory minimum sentences, but then the government would add the transportation of a minor charge. Hoppe hasn't expressed any remorse for her actions. She's been feeding her mind with pornographic literature, pictures and videos for decades and that damage can never be reversed. Hoppe is irredeemable and will never be rehabilitated. She has no choice but to accept the plea.

It's possible she has accepted the pleas and that information is not yet public?

"Both plea offers expire on April 17, 2024. The government has provided the defense with the plea paperwork for both offers and has informed the defense that the signed plea paperwork must be emailed to the government by April 17, 2024, and that there will be no further extensions." My guess is no email was received by the Government yesterday or earlier; she's holding on to any grasp of not serving the plea of 10+years incarcerated for her actions; and she's willing to go through trial with an (unrealistic) expectation of beating that timeline.

Shame serves a very important social purpose. This whole family has none from trying to market this horror to the shenanigans re: comms at the jail.

That's normal.Plea deals are almost always for less time than you'd get if you go to trial. Sentencing guidelines apply after a trial ending in conviction.Few people would plead guilty if doiing so would yield the same sentence you'd get if you roll the dice on a trial and lose.That's the element of "coercion" referred to.

It could be that her family thinks she's mentally ill and that her acts are the manifestation of that illness.Or it could be that mom believes the cockamanie story about trying to rescue the girl and thinks that if she testifies she'll be able to convince jurors that there's a reasonable doubt it's true.

I doubt they feel bad. More likely that the abuse has been normalized within the family and they feel nothing/are completely desensitized to it. Also wouldn’t be surprised if they felt like they were the victims in all of this.

This is what I don’t get (unless they’re delusional and truly believe she is innocent). I’d likely stand by a family member accused of money laundering, hell, based on the circumstances maybe even if they beat someone up. But this is just reprehensible and disgusting.

If there is a family history of sexual abuse, especially if she was abused herself, I could imagine the family sticking with her out of guilt that they didn't stop the abuse earlier. Or they just feel bad that she's in jail even though they know she did something bad.
