Actually TJ's new policy hurts black people in the long run.
Definitely going to have to show your work on that one. Start by talking about how access to college opportunities has harmed Black folks.![]()
You know why. Just doesn't suit your narrative and self-interests.
Because they need to know their place. TJ is reserved for their betters
Nope. Wrong. The kids will do fine at TJ. They have mostly richer more involved black parents. It is just that it doesn't improve the community overall as politicians are just using a few kids to claim victory when the bigger problem is building the base/pipeline and improving standards - look at the statistics on high school math/language metrics. And white folks just displaced some pesky Asians and are slapping each other on the back.
Focus should be on helping the entire Black community. Not just pushing a few richer, privileged black people and claiming false victory.
Amen.
Seems like the Supreme Court is not that popular anymore among TJ anti-Asian progressives.
There are far, FAR more anti-Asian conservatives than anti-Asian progressives.
Citation?
Which party runs around with tiki torches and swastikas again?
Exactly. These people are willing to side with folks who want to return us to the Jim Crow era and burn down our democratic institutions all to save them a few theoretical percentage points in admissions to elite schools.
It's more than TJ, it is not acceptable for elected SB members to mock and openly discriminate against Asians and set out to reduce Asian numbers. Politicians openly making statements and taking actions against a racial minority group in a mocking/racist way is never acceptable.
You will never understand why Asians are upset if you keep saying - why are they so rabid about TJ.
Two problems with this:
1) TJ even after the changes is >50% Asian
2) Selection is race blind.
+1
It was done in a shitty way but it was a step in the right direction.
If TJ is a problem that can't be fixed then it should just go away.
Being racist is never a step in the right direction. There was nothing wrong with TJ to fix. Lack of academic achievement by certain student demographic groups is not a problem caused by TJ.
The result is a step in the right direction.
There was much wrong with TJ to anyone who actually cared about racism instead of opportunistically shrieking about it in bad faith.
You are right, the racists were the only ones who thought there was much wrong with TJ. You are one of them.
So true. Racists couldn't handle the fact that the Asians were doing well.
Oh no the issues is the C4TJ racists doen't want an inclusive environment and are trying to limit admissions of others.

The Supreme Court just refused to block Thomas Jefferson High School’s (TJ) admissions policy! Wow! Three dissenters are Gorsuch, Alito, and Thomas.
Finally!
Uncle Ruckus Thomas always votes against anything that helps Black people. SMH.
Dems don't care who they step on as long as they can pander.
Nope.
I don't think that's the issue. The issue is defining how you measure these things by a metric that is easily gamed by outside enrichment with the intent to exclude lower SES students.
Are you referring to AAP?
