Genuinely that’s not how this storm is going to work. It is so iffy they can’t even properly forecast what it’ll do. Plus the accumulating snow is only going to fall overnight. You’ll know in the morning once they see what’s accumulated and can make a good decision based on that.

And yet I’m sure Loudoun and the surrounding jurisdictions will make the call earlier than Fairfax. Loudoun typically can make the call the night before.

Oh look at that. It’s 3:30pm, and Loudoun has only canceled activities for Sunday. FCPS for the win!

They put that out early to pacify you. It’s not final. That’s why the others are waiting.

They’ve said all along nothing will stick til dark but that’s when supposedly the snowfall rates will be high and it could potentially pile up fast overnight

it was wonderful last week when kids came for three days.

So you're a teacher who wants the kids to be in school for fewer days so you don't have to work as hard? Please quit for everyone's sake.

why must i be a teacher?

i have two kids, one in middle and another in hs...

when they are at home on snow days, they get rest, we bake cookies, we get to go out and walk the dogs in the normal daylight.

i love my children.

maybe you had rotten parents or are a ghastly parent who abhors the predicament you got yourself into by have unwanted kids.

teachers deserve time with their families too.

STFU

I’m not the pp but I do have HS kids who enjoy the break. My kids have a full AP courseload plus sports. They will happily sleep in and take a rest day.

I can still sympathize for parents with younger kids scrambling for childcare.

I get this if we'd had a normal schedule but so far, it's been a long series of fractured weeks-starting in October. Your kids do NOT need a break from anything.

We don’t know that. They may be unusually frail or anxious.

On the other hand the wide majority of FCPS students are disadvantaged by this schedule, so perhaps it would be best if this PP, rather than wishing missed meals and unsupervised time at home, would seek an ADA accommodation for her student who needs rest.

Capital Weather Gang has 80% chance for FCPS closure and 95% for a delay.

Woohoo 🥳

Fair oaks. It isn’t sticking yet, but it’s heavy and started 3 hours earlier than the forecast said.
