The 75,000 number is after Bezos commanded the editorial page to only publish opinions in favor of free markets and personal liberties. Another 250,000 left a few months before when the editorial page prepared an endorsement for Harris and he didn’t allow them to publish it.

Are the estimates now 100,000 loss since summer 2025?

I heard the number is estimated to be 250,000 subscribers left since last 12-15 months.

Ended my WaPO subscription as well as all amazon accounts. I will not support fascism or those who support it.

Yes, discontinuing patronage of a business employing hundreds of people is making a real difference in government policy. I'm sure the White House has taken notice and is changing course accordingly. Try voting, which actually is effective if enough people agree with your political inclinations.

There's nothing like an inflated sense of one's individual self-importance.

Do you really think that poster doesn’t vote?

People don’t necessarily take such steps because they believe the WH or a corporation is going to immediately change course, but to keep true to themselves that they have agency and do not need to acquiesce to authoritarians.

how noble. And how futile. And how harmful to 3rd parties, like employees, suppliers, and to the tax revenue such businesses generate.

I own nothing to 3d party businesses and their employees in the way you think I do. Same way all the RTO people were saying we should do so to "save Potbelly". Yeah, no.

I vote in ways to benefit employees all the time. I'm not required to conduct business with orgs that i disagree with fundamentally (or their ownership) on the basis that it will hurt the employees. BEZOS is the one doing that.

Can you say "short-sighted"? Sure you can.

People voted for Trump because they wanted to burn it all down. So here we are.

Since the Post is going down in flames, it hardly seems futile. Seems like the loss of subscribers is a proximate cause.

Actually, I think it was more like 250,000!

AI generated
"In late October 2024, The Washington Post experienced a massive subscriber backlash, with over 250,000 readers—roughly 10% of its paid circulation—canceling digital subscriptions. This surge in cancellations followed owner Jeff Bezos's decision to block a planned endorsement in the 2024 presidential race. "

You have to change your habits. Takes a bit, but you can do it.

My husband canceled the day of the layoffs. I cancelled months ago. He wanted to stay to support the journalists, but that was blown out of the window.

Why won't Bezos just sell the paper? Oh yeah, because he's trying to kill it. Kara Swisher is apparently trying to buy it. She put together a group of investors.

When Bezos bought the paper, he was worth $8B, now he's worth $250B. He paid $75m for the Melania movie but can't stop layoffs at the Post. Oh, ok.

The obvious is that the evil plan is to kill investigative journalism and install state run media. It's pretty obvious.

What i don't get is where are the women billionaires? Why aren't Melinda, and Makenzie, and Oprah, and Taylor using their money to be as powerful as the men? Why aren't they buying media up?

Maybe they are not trying to dominate the world?

Do you hear yourself? Why does owning a reputable news organization "domination?" If you are a billionaire, you have a civic duty. Staying silent is not an option. Honestly the silence is just as bad as the broligarchs at this point. They all organized for Christine Blasey Ford, per her memoir, where are these powerful women now?

This is a woman’s fault?? Lololol. I bet a woman posted this. Give me a break. Also, Oprah is in the JE files so yeah no.

No, she wasn't. It was manipulated (https://factcheck.afp.com/doc.afp.com.88XG29E), which makes sense b/c he did not like black people. For the first time, racism was good for us.
