It is well known that the only people that mind others not drinking are those with drinking problems. I was told that once and as I get older I find it to be so true.
Anonymous wrote:As a non-drinker, the situation Iāve been pressed the most about non drinking is with other moms. There seems to be a mommy wine culture where all mommies must drink when together. At book club, Iām asked 10 times if Iād like a glass of wine. When I say no thank you, the response sometimes is ājust have a littleā or āthis is soooooo good, you need to taste this.ā
At paint night, the group picture is everyone holding a glass of wine around their art work. Sports travels, letās all drink after the game.
I never feel this type of pressure at work or family events.

If this was a question for the non drinker above (me) if I feel like embarrassing my husband, Iāll order a Shirley Temple. With my co-workers friends usually nothing or water. Those two groups know I donāt drink. If Iām with a new group, I order Cherry Coke.
Shirley temple and cherry coke? How old are you?
DP, but was this nastiness necessary. Maybe think before posting.
NP. I don't care if my friends drink, but I would think it juvenile to try to order a cherry coke as an adult at a restaurant.
Itās more juvenile to be judgmental about othersā drink choices.

You judge someone because they don't like the taste of alcohol? I mean, it's pretty nasty until you learn to get used to it.
Seriously. If I was going to judge somebody, Iād judge people who drank poison with the intent to develop a taste for it.
