It’s terrible, because MS is the most heavily African American state in the country (40% of the population). But there are so many roadblocks in that state to keep poor, black constituents from voting. A crazy percentage of the black population has no ID card/drivers license because they can’t access their birth certificate.
Espy talked about how one of the things he had to do in 2018 was help re-register many voters who had been purged from voter rolls for no good reason in the past decades. It’s sad because Democrats ignore Mississippi because it’s a deep red state and then it gets deeper red because it’s ignored and the cycle perpetuates order

+1 NYT just came out with a poll that has him up by only 1, 43-42.
Also, please read this article about how his wife almost died waiting for a second trimester abortion of a much-wanted yet non-viable fetus. No one in the Senate has ever shared a personal story about abortion before, and I’m so glad he did.
