If they started looking into the background of everyone who filled out a 4473 who also did drugs and lied about it, they would end up with millions of people going to jail. I personally know of at least a dozen "legal" gun owners who I know to have done various kinds of drugs.

While I believe you, I think it’s important to distinguish between trying a drug here or there and being so permanently off your face addicted that you’re desperate enough to snort or shoot up anything. People in the latter scenario (like Hunter) are at high risk of committing armed robbery to get money for more drugs (if you’re not already rich from illegally selling access to your powerful father) or doing dumb things like leaving weapons around for other people like children to find.

LOLOLOL "oh but that's different" as you scramble to defend everyone else who committed the same crime as Hunter. Sorry but there is no difference under the law.

Major fail on your part there.

DP but it actually is. This crime is never prosecuted unless the gun purchased was used in crime. It’s never a solo charge.

Hunter never used that gun to commit a crime.
It was a solo charge in Hunter's case, because that's all they had and they insisted DoJ follow through with it.

That's what makes it politically-motivated. They went after Hunter and punished him for crimes in ways that the average gun owner wouldn't have been.

The average gun owner doesn’t write about his crimes in a book and profit from the sales of that book. Hunter basically dared the feds to prosecute him.

Dude left a laptop of evidence that we should all get a copy of for our viewing pleasure.

Forgetting the political implications, Hunter turned his brother's widow whom he was having sex with into a crack addict. People celebrating him getting off yet again for his degeneracy have never had to deal with a relative with addiction.

Not sure why you would defend a criminal of this stature. Dude needed a blanket 11 year pardon. The greatest pardon in the history of pardons.

He already did the first time around.

Trump wouldn’t have lied like Biden did. He would have said “Heck yeah, I’m pardoning Ivanka, the DOJ is corrupt and this will not stand.” Biden however lied to you. For months.

One more time. When Biden said he wouldn’t pardon him, he did not know who Trump would put in charge. Patel has it out for Hunter. Of course that changed things.

Why then does he need to pardon him for the crimes that he was already convicted of by Biden’s own DOJ? If you are going to spout this nonsense, at least try to be coherent.

Because he couldn’t let his son be subjected to an unfair punishment and the fabrication of *new* evidence against him. Biden originally did intend to let the justice system run its course. But that all changed when Trump decided on Patel.

Again, this is nonsense. Your argument is that Biden’s own DOJ was unfair to Hunter. How ridiculous.

If the pardon was for other past crimes for which he hasn’t been charged, then you might have an argument about averting a witch hunt.

All you are arguing now is the same thing that Trump has argued, your saying the pardon was necessary because Biden’s own DOJ was politicized and corrupt.

I’m okay with this criticism. What I am not okay with is the cynicism of Democrats and the media spending the last few years claiming that Trump was an existential threat to democracy and the rule of law for saying the exact same thing.

Dp- quit being intentionally stupid.
Over the weekend Trump nominated Kash Patel to head the FBI. Patel literally has a PUBLISHED ENEMIES LIST. It’s a list of political enemies and he has said publicly he wants to go after them. Patel doesn’t have experience. He isn’t a reasonable pick by any measure. His one qualification ( per Trump) is that he has a revenge list. So yes Biden gave his son an epic pardon to keep Patel from going after him for the next four years.
The only mistake Biden made, is that he selfishly only thought of his family. That list is long, and Biden should have waited till January 19 and given the same pardon to every name on that list. Not surprising in the least the Biden didn’t spare a thought for anyone but himself and family. He’s grown to be a selfish jerk in his old age.

If he didn't do anything, then there's nothing to protect him from. But you know that the fact is that he's a criminal, and the Big Guy is so complicit that he had to do this to protect himself and his family members. Do you understand the difference between a common street criminal breaking gun laws and a man who uses his father--then VP and now President--to influence peddle on an international scale? Do you seriously not understand the consequences of all of this on a global scale? There's a reason Hunter and Joe would be on such a list, and it's not just because Patel doesn't like them. They are threats to all of us.

True. Lying on a background check and being late with taxes are typically both fairly minor issues for which people are rarely sent to prison. On the surface, it looks like DOJ overkill. However, look a little deeper and you see a very corrupt family. In all likelihood, China and other actors have been using Hunter to enrich the Biden family. By issuing such an expansive and all inclusive pardon, Joe Biden sought to shut down further inquiry into the sources of the Biden family wealthy - after all, Joe Biden has very famously been nothing more than a train commuting public servant for 50 years. And yet he and has family are enormously wealthy. No doubt the incoming Trump administration will be keen to shine the spotlight on Biden corruption and malfeasance. The expansive pardon was issued to try to derail further investigation into the sources of Biden family wealth.

You're beating a dead horse with "in all likelihood" crap that was already investigated to death. To remind you, the House Republicans already spent millions of taxpayer dollars investigating the whole laptop issue, the "10 for the big guy" claims, the supposed Biden bribes and China and Ukraine deals filling Joe's coffers - and found NOTHING. All they got was that Hunter had a drug problem and lied on his 4473 and was sloppy with his taxes. That's it. Yet you STILL have these lingering delusions of supposed corruption "if you only look deeper" - except, they already DID look deeper. If that corruption ACTUALLY existed, the millions already spent by the House Republicans on investigating the Bidens would have uncovered it.

At this point you're like Geraldo Riviera thinking Al Capone's ill-gotten riches are still hidden away behind a vault door. There's nothing there.

David Weiss (AUSA Delaware) has been investigating Hunter Biden since 2018. He was then upgraded to "Special Prosecutor" by Garland in 2021. So Weiss basically investigated HB's entire life - China, Ukraine, drugs, prostitutes, etc. - for over FIVE years. And all they could get him on was non-payment of taxes and lying on the 4473.

There's no Big Guy. There's no "treason." There's no "sellling access"....which isn't even a crime.

And that was separate from the House's investigation.

There’s no “big guy,” they say — HA. Choosing January 1, 2014 as the start date of the blanket pardon for crimes that haven’t even been charged is totally random and has NOTHING to do with Hunter joining the Burisma board in 2014!

Since you are too stupid to be able to put 2 + 2 together.

lol I am agreeing with you. The left is in deep denial that Biden is the “big guy” getting his 10% vig, and want to cling to the “laptop is Russian disinformation” narrative. They refuse to acknowledge the implication of the pardon extending back to 2014. It’s perfectly clear to me!

No. The GOP house did. Once the DOJ found something, they are between a rock and a hard place on charges. If they don’t charge him, it gives the appearance of special treatment.

Looking at some of the people Trump pardoned I have nothing but understanding for why Biden did this

If anyone thinks that for one hot second Trump wouldn’t do this for anyone in his family, they are a complete idiot. I promise you Trump will do things far more egregious than this.

Oh. So your stupidity isn’t unintentional. You’ve steeped your brain in RWNJ conspiracy theories so long, it’s been liquified to goo.
That’s a shame. Here let me help you out.
THE INVESTIGATION IS THE WEAPON. In all of your googling, surely you had to get a little whiff of the truth to how destructive the “deep state” is when they investigate you. It can be financially ruinous. It certainly destroys reputations. And Patel and can drag people for years without cause. And he will because that’s the only reason his name was put forth. It certainly isn’t due to credentials.
The MAGA republicans in congress investigated Hunter and Biden. There isn’t anything there. Hunter is a F up, just like Don Jr. The difference is Hunter was at least smart enough to only give the appearance of influence. Trump’s kids are actively making the world a more dangerous place due to their stupidity and ignorance.

This. In fact, the investigation was every bit as stressful for Biden. They went after his last living child who had recovered from addiction. The stress aged Biden and his health deteriorated quickly. Everything about this was a sick attempt to torture and weaken him.
