Like if you've made the Nexus Championship before, you have a pretty good chance of making it again regardless of age group because you are a known commodity. If you've advanced to the USWNT Selection Camp and/or USWNT team, you are an absolute lock to make Nexus Championship again. They also have club coaches working at Nexus who advocate for their players. But despite all of this, it is still a good gauge of talent from a skills standpoint. The girls that make the Nexus Championship are good at field hockey, period. They don't select girls that suck.

Next Level came in first
Wolves- 2nd
Freedom- 3rd
Warhawks- 9th (ouch)
Lots of low scoring, close games.
I think the results have to change the narrative on this thread that NL isn't one of the top clubs--just my opinion
I think the gap is certainly closing. One issue I see for NL is that she uses many players across age groups which makes me wonder about depth at each age group.
I agree with the lack of depth. I think NL only has one '25 D1 commit. But, what a great opportunity for the U16s who get to play up and go to NCC for both age groups
Wrong. There are 2 D1s at '25, at least. And several at top D3 scools.
When you say top D3, who we talking about? My understanding of D3, and I'm admittedly not an expert, is that there is a big drop off after the top 5-6 programs. We live in Virginia so my daughter doesn't play on a team in that region; but I think it is great that an "underdog" club could win. Congrats to them.

There seems to be changes every year, but I'm not sure I would call it dysfunctional. Its a huge money grab and I'm not sure what the average member gets out of it.
It’s a massive money grab that unfortunately has become a de facto filter for D1 recruiting. The fact that it even exists for U14 highlights this feature.
There are weird behind-the-scenes things that go on & definitely quotas for certain clubs/regions that are good or bad depending on where you sit.

Anonymous wrote:DMV Prime is not the club you want to play for. Speaking from experience, these coaches are very unprepared, this club has no roster, or tournament experience and if you and your child are serious about field hockey, this new team is not the right choice. Consider Jackals, AVA Magic, or Xtreme Field Hockey for my families in NOVA. Jackals also offers "north" and "south" teams, allowing girls from Maryland (north) and Virginia (south) to practice and play together.
