Just take what you see on her with a grain of salt…many families are happy with Valor- 45+ girls showed up for 2013G tryouts and over 100+ boys showed up for 2013 boys tryouts…do whats best for your kid and dont use this lovely board to decide much.

Or was this a situation of two not so good clubs coming together to make a bigger not so good club? We have experience with CYA rec soccer and I don’t think they run it very well. It seems like the problem maybe starts there. But have no experience with SYA.
SYA was strong. No clue why they merged. Perhaps so they can get better/more fields.
We started CYA soccer in the beginning and I remember at that time there is not enough player to make a team for one age group. So merge is expected.
I don't think a merge was necessary - CYA kids could have picked Herndon for travel.
Is Herndon good for travel? Especially interested in the boys’ side.

I saw their u12 top team and they looked really above. some valor teams look really good. will try out to other clubs as my ds don't have a chance to make their top or even second team.
if that's the case you might want to consider rec
If PP is talking about the 2013 birth year, that’s a strong age group. First and second teams are both good. I think there’s a drop off when you get to the third team.
i stand by my comments. you should consider rec for your DS
the 2013 team age group is strong? The gold team doesn't even have a coach that shows up. Al is great but DS is a deadbeat coach. The gold team has had zero to no guidance at all.
is your kid on gold or white? i doubt they will have 3 teams this coming year as many of the players are bailing for teams with better coaches.
Where are people going?

He is a great coach. One of the best from SYA, now Valor. I get there are some frustrations with the club (all deserved) but he is a great coach. The kids and parents will love him. The 2nd team coach is also very strong.

Agree these jumped out at me as odd too
