That’s a good showing. Third OT loss though.

New MadLax rankings:

1. Robinson
2. Freedom
3. Madison
4. Langley
5. Battlefield
6. McLean
7. Yorktown

Think Madison is too high at #3 with a 5-5 record but otherwise the same order.

5. Yorktown
6. Mclean
7. Cosby- lost to atlee by two
8. Battlefield- heard they play in fortnite tournaments the first two months
9. Hayfield
10. West Po

HM- Oakton, South Lakes, Westfield, Tilly- One of these teams will end up 2nd in the Concorde, they can have the 10 spot cause nobody deserves it right now
Also HM- Woodson, SoCo

The only thing funny about you is the amount of bias you have and the lack of Lacrosse knowledge.

Mr Monday analysis guru pretty much agreed with these and he has more lax knowledge than you buster. Only real difference being he had battlefield at 3. I need to see battlefield play someone good(Mclean on Saturday, planning on making the voyage to Westfield) before I put them that high.

Robinson looks really good right now. They are averaging 13 goals/game. Teams with a good defense and good goaltending will stand the best chance if they can keep things close - I think you want to keep it low scoring and not get into a shootout with them. Yorktown and McLean are the only teams to keep them in single digits. Rematch with one of them would be interesting. Battlefield is similar to Yorktown and McLean and could have a shot also.

Yes it was a scrimmage but Robinson took down Riverside 10-4 with ease to kick off the season

Another reason that they are #1, but you can't get any better than #1, and no one has ever argued that someone else should ahead of them for several weeks now.

This is accurate and knowledgeable. Thank you for this every Monday!!!!

I did see the Battlefield v. Forest Park game. Battlefield came out early and put foot down 5-0, Maybe even 6-0. Forest Park did have some quality offensive possessions in first half but Battlefield's goalie (Top 5 in state easy, Richmond Commit) had at least 3 saves in first half he stood on his head and baffled the Bruins 2 or 3 should've/would've/could've been goals. 7-1 at Half, 14-3 finish with Battlefield getting a lot of quality reps for back ups and back up goalie. Offense is efficient and looking like it's getting better slowly. With one of the best goalies in the State watch for them to continue to improve and make another postseason run.

Predictions for Tonight ....
Heights over Yorktown 9-7
Meridian over Brentsville 10-9
Battlefield over Gainesville 12-5
Lake Braddock over Woodson 12-10
South County over West Springfield 14-8

Thanks for the Battlefield recap. Predictions look good (I don't know anything about Meridian or Brentsville) but I don't think Yorktown keeps it that close. 10-6 Heights.

Anonymous wrote:Week 6 -2024 VA Boys Class 6 Rankings

1. Robinson (8-0)

Results: Def. South County 15-2

Analysis: Robinson really it took it to South County and keeps getting stronger every week. They now have an incredible plus 70 goal differential in eight games. We continue to project the Rams to go 14-0 and take the Patriot district regular season crown with ease. Only team in Class 6 with four Quality Wins. It’s too bad they didn’t schedule a game against a private or one of the MD powers just to see how they stack up. Robinson will not likely lose in the Patriot District tournament or the Region C tournament either, and could be 20-0 heading into the State tournament.

Quality Wins: Madison, Yorktown, McLean, Langley
Decent Wins: West Potomac, South County
Quality Losses: None

This Week: 4/15 vs. Fairfax, 4/17 vs. Woodson

2. Freedom South Riding (8-0)

Results: Def. Colonial Forge 14-3, Def. Osbourn Park 21-1, Def. John Champe 8-3

Analysis: Two blowout wins against weak opponents and a win against an average John Champe team moves Freedom to 8-0. We are dropping the Dominion win from the Decent Win column as Dominion (2-4) is looking worse every day and lost to John Champe by an even bigger margin. Still, the two Quality Wins are tied for second best and the win over Riverside is the best win by any Class 6 team this year and looks even better after Riverside beat STAB this weekend. Freedom has an easy warmup game this week before an important match at Patriot to solidify their claim as one of the top two teams in Region B.

Quality Wins: Riverside, Briar Woods
Decent Wins: None
Quality Losses: None

This Week: 4/15 vs. Unity Reed, 4/18 @ Patriot

3. Langley (5-3)

Results: Def. Yorktown 9-8 (2OT), Def. McLean 8-6

Analysis: Great week for the Saxons. Langley stole a win from Yorktown with a fourth quarter comeback and double overtime game winner. They again had to storm back against McLean to grab another close win and likely lock up the Liberty district regular season title. Three game week ahead with two easy ones and then a serious test against the top team from the Region A in Cosby, who lost to Atlee by the same 2-goal margin as Madison.

Quality Wins: Yorktown, McLean
Decent Wins: None
Quality Losses: None

This Week: 4/17 @ Marshall, 4/19 @ Wakefield, 4/20 vs. Cosby (@ South County)

4. Battlefield (3-0)

Results: Def. Forest Park 14-3

Analysis: Battlefield snuck in an easy game with Forest Park to shake off the rust before a before a crazy stretch of five games in eight days. We are promoting the Independence win to a Quality Win because we think Indy probably slots in ahead of Hayfield and West Potomac and should be considered a top-10 win. Battlefield could be ranked higher but they just have not played enough yet, although they will fix that this week. Three easy games ahead should get them to 6-0, but their marathon stretch ends with a tough Saturday game against McLean. This should be a low-scoring affair with great defense and goaltending on both sides.

Quality Wins: Briar Woods, Independence
Decent Wins: None
Quality Losses: None

This Week: 4/15 vs. Gainesville, 4/17 @ Faquier, 4/18 vs. Osbourn Park, 4/20 vs. McLean (@ Westfield)

5. Madison (5-5)

Results: Def. Chantilly 16-6, Lost to Atlee 10-8

Analysis: Madison cruised past a Chantilly team that is on the verge of cracking the top-10 and then disappointed Class 6 supporters by falling to the defending Class 4 State Champs Atlee. Although we all know Madison is a huge threat in the playoffs, they don’t have enough Quality Wins and too many Quality Losses to move any higher. Madison gets a week off to get healthy before a Saturday match with Woodson that should not be particularly close. With Oakton fading as of late, we are projecting Madison to win out and finish 9-5 with the #1 seed heading into the Concorde district tournament.

Quality Wins: Yorktown
Decent Wins: West Potomac, Chantilly
Quality Losses: Riverside, Severna Park, Atlee

This Week: 4/20 vs. Woodson (@ South County)

6. McLean (7-2)

Results: Def. Sidwell Friends 12-8, Lost to Langley 8-6

Analysis: McLean jumped out to an 8-4 lead in the first quarter against Sidwell and then played them even the rest of the game, settling for a 12-8 win. Sidwell looked only average but would slot ahead of Hayfield in the top-10 here so we have deemed this a Quality Win for McLean. McLean fell to cross-town rival Langley in a close one. The Highlanders have a tough defense and great goaltending but will need to diversify their offense to make a deep run later in the season. McLean and Madison are basically equal right now – McLean played Robinson better but we think the Madison win over Yorktown is more impressive. Huge game with Battlefield on Saturday to potentially make a move back up the charts.

Quality Wins: Sidwell Friends
Decent Wins: Chantilly, Woodson
Quality Losses: Robinson, Langley

This Week: 4/17 vs. Herndon, 4/19 vs. Marshall, 4/20 vs Battlefield (@ Westfield)

7. Yorktown (4-3)

Results: Lost to Langley 9-8 (2OT)

Analysis: Yorktown held a 8-5 lead over Langley heading into the fourth quarter but faded down the stretch, falling to the Saxons 9-8 in double overtime. Two tough matchups ahead for the Patriots, with a soft game sandwiched in between, and they will need to tighten things up significantly if they hope to not get boat raced by the Heights and Broadneck this week. The Yorktown/Broadneck game is being played at Stevenson University, but unfortunately will not likely be close. Like Madison, too many Quality Losses and no Quality Wins limits their upward movement for now.

Quality Wins: None
Decent Wins: Oakton, Patriot
Quality Losses: Robinson, Madison, Langley

This Week: 4/15 @ Heights, 4/17 vs. Wakefield, 4/20 vs Broadneck (@ Stevenson University)

8. Cosby (3-1)

Results: Def. Manchester 14-9

Analysis: Cosby beat a previously unbeaten Manchester team, but it is hard to give that much weight as Manchester had not played anyone of consequence. Cosby could be a top 5 team but with only four games played and no significant wins they cannot be ranked any higher. Big week ahead as Cosby gets two warmup games and then finally gets to test themselves against a good NOVA squad when they face Langley on Saturday at South County.

Quality Wins: None
Decent Wins: None
Quality Losses: Atlee

This Week: 4/15 @ Monacan, 4/17 vs. Clover Hill, 4/20 vs. Langley (@ South County)

9. Hayfield (7-0)

Results: Def. Annandale 21-4, Def. TJ 17-5

Analysis: Hayfield got two more wins against two weak opponents. We are still not sold on Hayfield as a contender in light of their poor showing against Alexandria City, but since no team below has been able to put together a string of wins, undefeated Hayfield stays on the list. While some may think Hayfield should be ranked higher based on record alone, we are not willing to reward them for taking on such a soft schedule. If your team had to chose between playing Hayfield and any team ranked higher on this list in the playoffs, everyone being real would choose to play Hayfield.

Quality Wins: None
Decent Wins: Chantilly
Quality Losses: None

This Week: 4/15 @ Falls Church, 4/19 vs. Edison

10. West Potomac (4-4)

Results: Def. Fairfax 8-3

Analysis: We know West Potomac fans have been clamoring for a spot in the rankings and with no clear #10 they just barely get in. West Potomac could run the table and finish 9-4 if they tightens up they defense and stops giving up so many goals. They could also lose to Northern Calvert and Lake Braddock and Woodson and finish 6-7. Right now, they have a minus 17 goal differential from some major blowout losses. Almost all of the Also Considered teams are close on the Wolverines’ heels, and we are especially keeping our eyes on Deep Run, a Richmond-area team recently moved up from Class 5 that only lost to Atlee by three and is testing itself against some private schools. Deep Run takes on Cosby later this month so we will get a better sense of their strength then.

Quality Wins: None
Decent Wins: South County
Quality Losses: Madison? (putting up 13 goals on Madison was impressive, giving up 20 goals was not)

This Week: 4/15 vs. Alexandria City, 4/17 vs. Northern Calvert, 4/19 vs. Lake Braddock

Also Considered: Chantilly, Deep Run, Lake Braddock, Oakton, Patriot, South County, Woodson
