And then complain that only VYS Board Member's kids got an offer to tryout? Don't want to pile on, but if you haven't given it much thought, nothing wrong with saying "I'm not going to search for any more options unless my DC club asks me to do so". If my son played baseball, I wouldn't have the slightest clue about what is good, isn't good, for my son, and my goals would be to travel the fewest miles and pay the least amount.

Well, the reality of the arrangement is pretty much what I have laid out. And yes, for the most part it is pointless. It does nothing for VYS other than provide a token carrot but make no mistake, VDA is a separate club and program and must be treated as such. Occasionally some VDA coaches may come to some games or practices and ask about a kid or two who stand out but that is about it.

At best they may have some intra club practices where they take a longer look at the overall player pool between VSA, PWSI and VYS but that is about it in terms of any formal gathering.

If you really want to join a DA, why didn't you try out on your own? You actually need VYS to contact you and say it's OK? I'm I confused here?

VDA isn't as much an idea as it is a club a separate club that plays in the DA. I imagine if you had a son that was advanced you'd be trying to get in the roster since McLean's and Loudoun's DA teams are only for U12 and VDA is from U12 to U17.

Well the idea being that the partner clubs in VDA offer a player pool for VDA to get first dibs on and draw from. The problem is, VDA is more aligned with PWSI and there is no real cohesive development plan that VDA has with any of the partner clubs.

So this is just my perspective, but if there was a DA option, the interest would be coming from myself and my child, not necessarily from my club. While a Club could say they have best interests of each of their player's in mind, no youth club has enough bandwidth to ensure every player is playing at appropriately challenging level. They also can't know if the if parent/child have playing on a college team as goal, if it is then DA is path to ensure recruitment. I'm only saying a club doesn't have to approach me about how to different programs available for my player, I'm going to do research on my own. I'm now saying my way of thinking is the only way or the correct way; nonetheless your statement is a little confusing to me.

I was thinking Vienna would get involved mid-way only if they were able to place a few players. Why else lend out their fields to players coming from PW County.
