What do you expect VYS and VDA to "do with it"? VYS is simply offering up some field space that might work out for a game or two and perhaps a practice location. If you want to play DA then you must still contact the appropriate coach at VDA and tryout. If you make VDA you are no longer affiliated with VYS and you are a VDA player from that moment on.
So the only thing you need to know now are:
1. Does your kid want to play VDA?
2. Are you willing to drive to Howison for practice?
I thought they would discuss what it means for the club, they might suggest top players try out, and actually mention it as a next step option since they are affiliated. Instead they have it on their website like it means something and do nothing with it with respect to players. Completely pointless. Yes, if we want to play DA, we will try out for an actual DA team.

Well considering it was announced to VYS families after VDA tryouts concluded, that's not a big surprise. Let's allow it to play out a couple years before casting judgement on it.

That is because there is essentially nothing in it for VYS.
VDA isn't as much an idea as it is a club a separate club that plays in the DA. I imagine if you had a son that was advanced you'd be trying to get in the roster since McLean's and Loudoun's DA teams are only for U12 and VDA is from U12 to U17.

Well for one thing Vienna has no DA designation.
