OK, but what do you suggest - we just write these kids off and never give them a chance? Sure, having 2 great parents is ideal, but these kids need help. You can't just say "oh, well - too bad their parents suck"

We tried everything. For decades. It didn't work. At some point you have to face reality.

and now we have just admitted that our country has a permanent caste system and is NOT egalitarian.

No caste system. If you want to rise out of the ghetto, you can. If you want to stay there, you can do that too.

Totally agree. Why encourage your DD to excel academically if her highest goal should be simply to reproduce? Focus on the boys. They have to get jobs someday.

You help all of your kids do their best so that they have choices. Just because I stay at home and it was the right decision for me doesn't mean that I will choose that decision for my daughter. My daughter will make her own decision about work/children when the time comes someday.

She will do the opposite of what the previous generation did. Millenials supposedly love the idea of SAHP.

They don't they're getting hyper educated and buying tiny apartments. Not very conducive to childrearing

The kids in the ghetto can't make it in life because their families suck and DC doesn't care about their public schools as much as it does the ones the rich kids go to. It does not take a village to raise a good kid.it takes two parents who actually care about their kids. The good teachers start out in the crappy schools bcuz these schools are desperate for educators and the teachers need a resume builder.

I also think that principal at the school in NW staged the big gay day celebration last year so he could claim discrimination when he got fired for sucking at his job.

No I actually just believe in a faith that's been around for 1000s of years, I'm sorry that so offends you and congratulations on being able to handle every aspect of life without any divine help ever. It's just so super cool to be atheist or agnostic around here that it's simultaneously become ok to bash people with faith.

Were you raised on your religion or did you come to it as an adult?

Raised in my parents' religion and while they lectured some about the importance of faith, my reaction the whole time I lived with them was "yeah yeah whatever" and we didn't go to services weekly or anything. I came to the faith as an adult as I started to learn it little by little and actually understand it rather than just being told to memorize stuff.

NP here. I am enraged by all the free stuff SN parents get that have nothing to do withy their child's SN. I can kinda see the free PT/OT/Speech maybe, but my very wealthy friend also gets FOR FREE from the county: preschool withh bus service, 42 hours/week nanny, Medicaid and food stamps. FOR FREE. And the nanny does her laundry and watches her NT kids too!!

Uh, wha? Food stamps is a means-based program, as is Medicaid -- if they are indeed "very wealthy" then they wouldn't be eligible for those programs. And I've never heard of a free nanny, no way. Maybe an aid in the classroom? If her child is eligible for a free special needs preschool and full-time aid, you shouldn't be enraged or envious...it means her child is quite disabled.

It's all true. The means test for Medicaid/food stamps is done ON THE KID, who has no assets. All his copays and RX's are paid by Medicaid, and his food is bought with food stamps. In addition to preschool five days a week, his mom is allowed 42 hours of nanny care paid. She does not work, has two NT kids, lives in a 6000sf house and drives a large luxury SUV. Her SN child walks, talks, eats, and is potty trained, he is just delayed pretty significantly. I don't see why she needs a tax payer paid nanny because of that.

If this is true - it's crazy!!!! What state does she live in? How does she not feel guilty???

That pp is lying or has misunderstood/misrepresented the situation. The child is probably VERY disabled and needs home based therapy. The fact that she sah or lives in a McMansion is completely irrelevant

I hate booties. They look bad on all women who are not at least 5'7 and have great legs. That's not the majority of us.

Doesn't mean I think we've made the best decisions all the time. And I 100% do NOT buy the "We're the greatest nation on the planet" nonsense.

There is a lot to fix, and sadly no one seems to care to do it. And now that compromise seems to be a dirty word, I've pretty much given up on our stupid politicians.

I am curious: Who do you nominate for best nation in the world if not America

honestly, no one. Why does someone HAVE to hold this title?

I do think there are other countries who do things better than we do on certain issues, though. Gun control, healthcare, family friendly policies, education, etc.

I also wish we would stop using the "we can't afford it" excuse. We can afford a lot of other things.

Someone has to pay. We should sort out this debt issue before anything though
