U.S. Small Business Administration to leave Seattle and other ‘sanctuary cities’

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) plans to pull out of so-called “sanctuary cities,” including Seattle.

The SBA said it will relocate six of its regional offices “currently in municipalities that do not comply with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.” Those offices are in Seattle, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver and New York City.

“Over the last four years, the record invasion of illegal aliens has jeopardized both the lives of American citizens and the livelihoods of American small business owners, who have each become victims of Joe Biden’s migrant crime spree,” Administrator Kelly Loeffler said in a news release Thursday. “Under President Trump, the SBA is committed to putting American citizens first again – starting by ensuring that zero taxpayer dollars go to fund illegal aliens.”

^ Helping these kids learn English is a bargain in the long run. Those kids will pay far more in taxes over their lifetimes here. It's a great investment in our country.

FCPS spent $260 million on ESOL services in the past two fiscal years. Kids have been showing up from the border in our children's classrooms for the past four years not speaking a word of English. I the border had been controlled we wouldn't need those funds.

You do realize that the money came from the feds, right? The feds reimburse all of those costs through Title 3. It's not the local county that was paying for it. Just letting you know that this has nothing to do with the budget shortfall. Fairfax County has had shortfalls before. Remember when they were going to cut all the music programs in the elementary schools? That was not very long ago.

An illegal immigrant who once served as an aide to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has reportedly self-deported to Colombia, praising the "freedom of movement" in the South American nation after working in Congress despite being in the country illegally.

Diego de la Vega was born in Ecuador and immigrated to the United States as a 7-year-old in 2001 on a visitor’s visa that he overstayed, Migrant Insider reported.

The news raises thorny questions about his employment status for the Queens-based congresswoman.

After working for an immigrant rights group, he served as communications director for Robert Rodriguez, then a member of the New York State Assembly, who currently serves as president and CEO of the New York State Dormitory Authority, according to his LinkedIn page.

In 2021, de la Vega was hired by Ocasio-Cortez’s re-election campaign and eventually became her deputy communications director.

"Diego is amazing," Ocasio-Cortez told the news outlet. "We love him."

De la Vega worked for Ocasio-Cortez despite not being a U.S. citizen. DACA recipients are barred from paid positions in congressional offices.
