I am a Barca parent and I don't think that paying $3K+ to be on an ODSL team (at Barca or at any other club) is a wise investment.

Arlington, BRYC, Loudoun, Alexandria, Great Falls, etc. all field teams that play in ODSL. Barca has many teams in EDP and now some in ODSL. The development and training sessions/coaching are the most important aspect of Barca, not leagues. They have players of all different levels and individualize training and league play accordingly.
Parents know what they signed up for and understand the process. There is also a longer training season/sessions than most Clubs. Your drama is a ridiculous attempt to discredit and I still don’t get why you care so much if you don’t have kids at Barca Academy. It’s absolutely pathetic.
But, you sound very much like the troll in the girl FCV/Spirit threads.
Thanks for your concern, btw, and for keeping all of the threads going in this forum with your constant vigilance.
I agree that one Barca protagonist seems to be related to the DA trolling going on in other threads. The pattern of anti DA posts coinciding with revivals in this thread have happened time and time again. I believe the poster outed themselves in this thread worth their non-sequitir rant against US Soccer in a post here several months back.
That said, the comments on ODSL are very relevant concerns and not trolling. There are parents at Barca who aren't happy that their investment has resulted in ODSL births for their children, who were playing in NCSL or more competitive environments in the past. The other clubs mentioned who field teams in ODSL typically charge much less for teams that compete in ODSL, a fraction of the cost at Barca. These are facts and a definite concern for some people.

You can certainly debate whether it is a good thing or not, but the original post took no position on whether it is a positive or negative. I am not sure why simply stating a fact about a program joining a league is controversial.
I was the OP and made the statement as a joke. Well one of those jokes that are half in jest and half in truth. Some of the other threads have been full of drama the last few days. Anything posted about Barca almost always includes drama. I figured someone would point out how it is crazy to pay $3k for ODSL level teams and then a ton of pro Barca posts bashing anyone and anything that sounds even remotely against Barca. Looks like the second part rang true, even without the first part.

They have several teams per age group. They are not at the same levels. It makes sense for some to be in EDP and others ODSL. People pay for development and part of development is meeting the needs of individuals however far along they may be in learning the methodology.
The development angle may be true for younger age groups, but it makes no sense to play $3K to play on a U17 ODSL team.
