He has done a great job with SJC, but his name and the SJC brand has become a lightning rod for controversy. His next position won’t be in the DMV unless it’s a mega low tier program.

Disagree...
Why is there such controversy... sure the guys recruits hard but the SJC administration is telling him to recruit hard. He is doing what he has been told by the administration. Win games and do whatever is necessary to attract/recruit kids to military road.

You think Duenkel’s parents needed the money? You don’t know Duenkel’s parents then.
What’s funny is these IAC folks have no idea how many parents have money at St.John’s and said no thanks to any financial help. The difference is not money it’s Coach Speaks and the support they provide for the student athlete. Coach Speaks goes to watch these kids play during the summer and builds a relationship with their families. All say it again. Your coach is being out worked when it comes to recruiting. If you don’t know - you don’t know.
Agreed. And they want to be part of a winning program. SJC hasn’t lost to a DMV team in 2 years.
Anonymous wrote:It is pretty apparent by now that SJC and Prep are top of the heap right now, who is best is anyone's guess but neither is going to challenge for best team in the country so pretty irrelevant other than for a few people who may care about a DC Champion. #s 3-10 likely can beat each other on any given day and a couple have the potential to upset SJC/Prep, but at this point SJC and Prep only have 2 maybe 3 games left where that is a realistic outcome. Prep should win IAC, SJC should win WCAC and if they do the only really rock solid prediction anyone can make is that we will all have to suffer through endless posts by supporters of both teams making the claim of being the "All Dominating Lacrosse Gods of DC". Please let there be an upset so we all don't have to live through this.

As a grown-ass adult, I'd hope my coach has better things to do than go watch a MS club lacrosse game in the summer or the fall.
