Don't really GAS if you pass it or not.

Don't whine when an avalanche hits you.

The House GOP is too weak to move their legislation. Impotent clowns.

So Biden managed to get a pretty modest deal hashed out with McCarthy. It's not going to be a problem for Biden to sell it to his people, give or take a handful.

McCarthy? I don't know how many of his own will vote for it. Hopefully he can enough that he doesn't consider this a personal disgrace.

Looks like a good deal for the Dems. Hopefully 6 GOP go along with it.

Like Trump and other millionaires.

The top 50 percent of all taxpayers paid 97.7 percent of all federal individual income taxes, while the bottom 50 percent paid the remaining 2.3 percent. - the Tax Foundation

Flatten the tax code.

Well ya when the rich are filthy rich, especially in comparison with those of lower incomes, of course they're going to pay way more in taxes than people making a fraction of what they do. Duh. Maybe what you're looking for is a flattening of salaries at the top so there isn't such gross imbalance in our society.

HALF the country skating on taxes is BS.

They are still paying payroll taxes (SS, Medicare) and sales taxes. And property taxes.

The statement about 50% of people only paying 2.3 percent of taxes, is misleading to those who don't read carefully.

They are not paying income taxes.

They a skating and voting like it too (vote for the most free s*** because you don't have to pay for it). ENOUGH!

Flatten the tax code.

Tell us, o wise one, how much money those people are making without having to pay income taxes. Real numbers with sources. Go ahead. Let's see if you can dig up some facts. And then let's all digest the incomes so many Americans are struggling to live off.

Also tell us the "free s***" that you think people are getting. Do you mean schools? And firemen? Social services? Infrastructure? Just what kind of freebies are those folks getting? List them.

They can make $30k and have the government giving them money with EITC.

Republican God Ronald Reagan expanded the Earned Income Tax Credit rather than increase the minimum wage. He chose to have the government subsidize low income workers with kids rather than make businesses pay decent wages.

In 1990, even the liberal NYT editorial page said the ideal minimum wage is $0. You can mandate businesses pay decent wages, but if this is higher than worthwhile for the companies, it leads to less jobs/hours for low skilled workers. Those automatic checkout machines didn't show up out of nowhere.

1. If a business can’t pay decent wages, it isn’t viable and its failure is good for the economy.
2. If you love that workers are paid pitiful wages then shut up about them not paying more income taxes.
3. No true liberal or progressive gives a shit what the NYT editorial page says. NYT is a paper for investors not for workers.

I’m a liberal and an investor. Still don’t give a shit abt what the NYT says. Total trash paper with low intelligence reporting

They've already passed an increase to the debt ceiling.
If the current deal holds, there is no rush to pass a different increase bill.

That’s not how any of this works.
