No, this is not true. Democrats won't vote for an election saboteur nor someone who will not partner in good faith. If GOP put up one of the handful of non-election deniers a Speaker, Dem would consider it.

NP. The point is that the line of succession was changed from Sec.of State, 2nd in line, to Speaker because it was thought that it should be someone who had been elected,by the people.

Okay, it's prediction time.
What's the end game.
I think we all know the most likely thing is that the anti-McCarthy caucus folds at some point.
The question of why they fold is the interesting part:
Someone who actually holds power over them comes in and threatens to take away their cookies and make them go home if they don't finally buckle under. (Who though? Trump? Russia? Fox News? This is the interesting question. Not that we'll know the answer to the question necessarily.)
The Republicans in their districts tell them to get their acts together in some un-ignorable way.
They don't get their paychecks and their staff doesn't get their paychecks and that leads to enough pressure to call their bluff.
I mean, the weirdest part of all of this is their total lack of end game. What is the goal? Do they know? It doesn't seem like they do.
