Yes. One critic said Michael Shannon should just be given his Emmy now. Asher Keddie and the actress who played the daughter were also excellent.

I also teared up when Lars began to cry while watching the family, and when he had the breakthrough about his partner in the sauna.

Fully agree re Michael Shannon.

Just finished and I actually loved the ending all around. I was worried it would end in disaster. I loved the Melissa McCarthy/Bobby Cannavale storyline. Agree with others that the casting made the whole series.

I really enjoyed the emotional ending. Glad I kept with the show, I was faltering for the last few episodes.

So happy to see Dr Proudman!

Apparently NK had to go to bat for her to get the role.
The cast could be eligible for a SAG ensemble. I’d have a tough time choosing between this group and White Lotus, but I think I’d go with this one.

How is the book different than the series?

+1 At first I didn't like NK as Masha, but she grew on me in the final episode.

I don't remember her doing that, but presumably it was something about her turning it all into a book.

No. It was something like, never up never in. Something frances' father used to say to her when she was young..

Oh, yes, she said never up, never in. I thought PP meant she whispered something else.

I don’t remember the significance(?)

Frances' father was a golfer and used to say never up, never in. "The term "Never up, never in" is used in golf meaning that unless a putt is struck hard enough to reach the hole it has no chance of falling into the cup" or in layman's terms, if you don't go for it, you will never get it.

Thank you! Driving me crazy I rewound it a couple times but I never could figure it out. I guess it means if Melissa McCarthy didn’t go for it she will never find love anyway that’s my take.
