I’ll add eyeshadow to the list too. I don’t think it can’t be done, celebrities seem to sometimes pull it off. But normal women I see IRL over 40 with eyeshadow never look good. I haven’t figured out the secret either so I skip and put a little non shimmer highlighter in my corners

IDA about eye shadow. The trick for me was going for a more neutral palette. When I was younger I could pull off the dark smoky look but now I agree that its aging. However going with a more peachy/golden type of palette, it blends more with my complexion and brightens up my eyes without being too heavy/obvious. However I am a fair skinned black woman.

I’m 35 and this thread is DEPRESSING. You all judge other women so hard and you’re too old for it!! Wear what you like, do your makeup how you like, fix your hair how you like, YOU ARE THE ONE WHO GETS TO LIVE WITH IT, so do whatever makes you feel good because as you can see, no matter what, these women will find something wrong with it.

This is highly dependent on your ethnicity. Lots of women can do that subtle smokage at any age but they don't have those hyper pink looking waterlines and pale / blue undereyes

It's the Middleton Woman Eyeliner TM. They all do it for almost every outing. I think they learned it at some Estee Lauder counter in 1999 and it's been a daily look since. It works for none of them, at any age.

They had it tattooed on years ago. I thought that was n knowledge. I have no idea if it fades and has to be redone and whether they still do that or just touch up what they had done with regular eyeliner.

Coloring their hair in a way that does not match their face. What worked when you were 35 might not work when you are late 40s and beyond.

1) Color your hair if going gray, cute cut.
2) Fix that BRF (Biitchy Resting Face, not British Royal Family)
3) Better bras
4) Update your wardrobe.

This is how I've always done it, even when I was young. It make your eyes look bigger and can make them look more almond shaped, especially if you thicken the liner slightly on the outer edge (not a true cat eye or anything, just a bit more liner to draw the eye outward -- it will also make your lashes look thicker).

It's also easier to keep looking tidy over the course of the day or when it's hot and humid out. No makeup on lower lash means no transfer to your skin. Plus if you ever get transfer from your upper lashes, you can wipe it clean easily without disturbing any makeup on the lower lash line because there isn't any.
