+1 The Supreme a court ruled on this before this officer was even born. It should not keep happening.

Um, no, she did not follow the procedure for a taser because...she pulled out a gun. And, you don't know what her true intent was. How many times do we have to see the same shit happen before we realize that there are SOME cops that have lethal intent when they encounter certain people?

I don’t think you understand what negligent homicide is, which in the case of Minnesota means second degree manslaughter. She wasn’t consciously creating an unreasonable risk. She made a terrible mistake while in a difficult situation.

I tend to think cases where there is any question (which I would say would include this) should go to trial, or at least a grand jury, but from what I saw on that video, there’s no way I’d vote to convict on a homicide charge.

I have to agree. If I wriggled out of handcuffs during a traffic stop I would expect that I was risking my life.
I think the officer made a terrible error but that is all.

Whereas I hope Chavin is found guilty.

The body cam footage makes great case for manslaughter. There should be no excuse for accidentally firing a weapon- even the army no longer recognizes accidental discharge; it’s always automatically at least a negligent a discharge
