All I had to do was read the first page of this thread and see that there are 9 pages after just one day to know where this was heading. I’m so sorry to all the disgruntled DCUM parents for their loss in this year’s college lottery. However, suck it up, get over your disappointment at your child’s rejections and waitlists, celebrate their options in whatever unexpected form they take this year, and let your kids know you are confident they can succeed under any circumstance.

Get over the spilt milk of 2020 & 2021...

I have one child at Harvard and one at Cornell. I am really sick of all the ridiculous Cornell hate on this board. Cornell is an incredible school and both of my kids are getting wonderful educations. They've both had plenty of opportunities and both love their classes and campus lives. Why is there such a need to bash certain schools? It's weird.

We have 4 kids either graduated from or are currently attending Ivies. Each of our kids have told us the same thing: the scandal has caused all sorts of craziness with Ivy admissions. In the past 2 years our kids have seen an incredible downward trend in the quality of admitted students.

Our kids say they and their friends have noticed and commented about the poor caliber of incoming students. One of their friends is a TA as he is pursuing his PhD and he wrote the most scathing closed blog post about the quality of this year's Freshman class. I don't know if the Ivies admissions groups will be able to get back on course or not. It will be interesting to see.

Just keep repeating, PP, it isn't my daughter, it is the bad process. Hugs to your daughter that she loves where she ends up choosing and knowing that they wanted her for her.

I remember walking out of the test in the 90’s and there was a baseball question that I knew I got right and most my female friends would get wrong. Even then I thought... that’s bullshit.


Exactly this! There are ten trillion possible ways to test knowledge and potential. If the (for lack of a better term) ruling class writes the test then the test is biased.

The problem is with grade inflation, it is difficult to assess intelligence. Just because you are in an easier school and have more free time to pad your resume doesn't mean you belong at an ivy.

I did bad on the test. Must be the test's fault.

Isn't prepping on a subject for a test precisely what most of college involves? So whether one can do that seems at the very least relevant. Or, from the blame perspective, why should the SAT be presumed to be more biased than any particular college course?

Turning down Cornell for The New School is definitely an 1130 decision and not a 1500+ decision.


You clearly don’t know anything about Parsons or it’s reputation. Learn before you comment. It’s top notch in its field.
