The worst is those kids that are marginal never put in work to improve outside of team activities so the the team suffers, especially the better players.


100% agree!!! We are lucky to live in an area with so many programs and levels available. My daughter could never make a travel team and I'm happy that there are programs out there for her to continue playing through high school. I guess i just don't understand why everyone can't just let it be that there are lots of clubs with different missions and something for everyone. Based on what I read on here it sounds like there is definitely not 1 dominant club with 100% amazing teams across all age groups, 100% amazing coaches, 100% amazing administrators and 100% normal parents. Not to be cheesy but why can't we all just get along, let our kids play and enjoy it. Why does it always have to be such a club-bashing competition?!

My take is that a lot of parents are sort of tired seeing their kid’s team get destroyed by Hero’s, M&D, etc.

I personally don’t care so much as long as my kid is having fun. But there is this thought in the back of my head that says, “wouldn’t it be nice...” Of course everyone thinks their kid would obviously make the team in this scenario.

PP has a great point. I think the “problems” come from clubs though saying they are something that they are not (and then parents trying to sort it out through all the noise and trial and error to find the right fit - especially as players change - one club maybe great for 3rd grade but girl wants something different come 6th). If clubs were more transparent and set the right/reasonable expectations then think it would be better and easier. And you see lots of people/clubs then bashing girls who move around but everyone is just trying to figure it out.

There seem to be a few post across these boards - maybe the same MC person - who likes to say that anyone who leaves is roster chasing or chasing wins - somehow in disbelief that girls would want to move to another program that sets them up for success and, like it is a dirty word, wins. It is not player development OR winning. They aren’t mutually exclusive and usually go together.

How is it a “bold statement” to share the score/GD of an actual 23 game?

Agree that not winning “every game” is not critical - but to say such strong development and then to have results that diverge so much from other clubs doesn’t really add up. Which teams ARE performing well? At some point development should translate on the field, no?

That's a pretty bold statement to make for someone who clearly doesn't play at the club but I do realize that people use this forum to lie and hope that it "brings down" other clubs. There are lots of talented girls and lots of strong coaches at MC. They have done a ton of work this year to make sure all the girls kept playing through the pandemic - we practiced 3 times a week during the fall and had tons of extra fitness and practices over the winter while her friends at other clubs were sitting at home. My daughter's team doesn't win every game and sometimes they lose more than they win but their development program is top notch and as long as she keeps getting better as a player and having fun along the way then I don't care what the scores are. MC has been rebuilding for the past 18-24 months and it shows. I would make the argument that playing against teams better than you helps you to elevate your game. No team at any club is going to win every game. That's what creates so much club hopping - parents who are just looking to win. Teams move up and down year to year and even season to season. The MC 24 team has 2 strong coaches who left Pride and came to MC. Their players love them. There were a lot of politics with the girls that left for Capital, including a parent who wanted to keep coaching his kid at MC and they wouldn't let him. For what it's worth - no parent should be coaching their kid at the travel level in 9th grade. The team had to rebuild but picked up some strong girls from Stars who were much more committed than the girls who left.

I'm pretty sure that the girls that went to Capital aren't playing Varsity as freshman this year. A bunch of the MC24 girls who stayed at MC and who play for Stone Ridge all got pulled up to Varsity as freshman.


That's nice for you, but not all MC teams are like that and you appear to be in the minority. Our DD previous MC team went dark for months and when a practice was actually scheduled, they later got cancelled so we did nothing all summer - not having a regular coach all year didn't help. Communication was terrible so we left and are happy with our new squad. New coach emails weekly with general update, communication is fast, and the coach actually knows what they are doing. DD enjoys the game again.

Agree on a lot of points, but the girls coming from Stars went to MC because they didn't make either of the Capital teams or the Orange team at best. And plenty of the Capital girls are on Varsity HS teams as freshmen.

I don’t know about 24s but I know many 26s and 27s left .... not to chase wins but to simply have coaching and administrators that were responsive. I am happy for MC that they are rebuilding but to say they have strong coaching is totally dependent on the year.

actually do have a daughter in the club, just not on that team. But thank you very much. Exactly why we are transferring clubs, because of the trend we see. Not blaming anyone at MC Elite, we just noticed this ion the past couple years as to whats happening. I do agree with you about having fun and getting better along the way, but remember, every player has different needs. Mc elite will work for some, but others it will not.
