ah yes, the trope of the insecure soccer parent

Not insecure at all. Wish for the $ that gets spent in this area the environment for soccer was much better. Clearly not on par with NJ, PA, GA, etc.

You truly have no clue what you’re talking about. Zero. None. Nada. Zilch.

I have plenty idea what I’m talking about. I’ve been involved in travel soccer in this area for a long time as a player, coach and parent. The quality isn’t what it should be. Not enough technical development, too much emphasis on the wrong attributes, especially at the younger age groups. But hey, enjoy watching many of our local ECNL teams in the 3rd bracket struggling to deal with EDP and ECNL-R teams.

Also it is clear that they don’t have a bright future given their league. But, but, but their teams are good, some very good. Saying they should be in the bottom brackets is foolish. Their teams are placed appropriately at Jeff cup. Loudoun’s teams are currently not as good at the 4 oldest ages groups. But Loudoun’s teams will get better moving forward and FCV’s will get worse. Loudoun is getting their coaching sorted at the younger ages. Next year, Loudoun’s 4 youngest ECNL teams will likely be stronger on average than FCV’s. Every year into the future that difference will only get wider.

I agree with this analysis.

I also agree with the other poster about the illusion of success in the GA. FCV older teams are not tending in a positive direction. I suspect it’s because they were forced to step out of their bubble and face competition that they couldn’t walk all over. Beating teams 11-0, 9-0, 8-0 isn’t good for development. It was a shock to their system.

As far as brackets....there are teams that are in the Top bracket that clearly don’t belong there. It’s not a perfect science by any means and looks like some politics may be involved.

With pandemic the “rankings” are all over the place. Teams are still benefiting from winning tournaments from summer of 2019 which haven’t dropped off yet.

Girls are 99% the same. I'm fine with that. For the most part, the groupings are sound and providing very competitive games. Every bracket has their lopsided games, but the top two in each bracket going into tomorrow are pretty close.

Oh no they’re not

I’m sure Baltimore Armour 04 GA and Beach FC 04 Red both deserved to be in the Top Bracket.

They’re killing it...I mean....

Are you taking sides as a Non-involved parent? Sounds like it. Hummmm

Fully. No skin in that game. Just saying to those FCV parents, get em next time. Dunno why that's a conspiracy in your mind.

There is no shame in losing to that Bethesda team.

I demand a recount. FCV doesn't lose.

Okay, thank you very much. We appreciate the time and the call. So we’ve spent a lot of time on this, and if we could just go over some of the numbers, I think it’s pretty clear that we won. We won very substantially in Jeff Cup. You even see it by spectator size, frankly. We’d be getting 25-30,000 people a game, and the competition would get less than 100 people. And it never made sense.
