OP — Given what you describe I would stay and work. He needs help as do you but it is possible to turn one’s life around if he works at it very hard.

No. He put himself in therapy a few months prior. He was planning to cut it off because he was having a crisis when he started it. They agreed on the Internet it was a no string thing. He didn’t like her as a person and she was not that attractive. I met her. She confirmed he broke it off and she added she was jealous of me and that he only ever said nice things. She was blindsided and couldn’t believe he ratted her out.

Affair started in January and physical interaction was more intense until March with work travel. Then with Covid it was just talking on the phone and they didn't see each other again until July. Not that it matters in my mind because it was an ongoing relationship still.
