David Perdue makes racist remarks about Stacey Abrams as he ends a lackluster campaign.
Mr. Perdue, who badly trails Gov. Brian Kemp in the Republican primary for governor, accused Ms. Abrams of “demeaning her own race” in describing the state’s problems.
DUNWOODY, Ga. — Former Senator David Perdue ended his Trump-inspired campaign for governor of Georgia with a racist appeal to Republican primary voters on Monday, accusing Stacey Abrams, the Black woman who is the presumptive Democratic nominee, of “demeaning her own race” in how she has described the state’s problems.
Speaking to an overwhelmingly white crowd, Mr. Perdue trained his ire on Ms. Abrams, who narrowly lost the 2018 governor’s race to Gov. Brian Kemp, the Republican whom Mr. Perdue is vying to unseat in Tuesday’s primary.
Mr. Perdue’s remarks about Ms. Abrams transcended the typical Republican primary campaign fare about stolen elections and accusations of disloyalty to former President Donald J. Trump. In a state where segregationists once demonized civil rights leaders as unwanted interlopers, and where how to interpret the nation’s history of slavery and racism remains a contentious subject, Mr. Perdue cast Ms. Abrams as an outsider in a state that has been her home since high school.
“Did you all see what Stacey said this weekend?” Mr. Perdue said from the stage. “She said that Georgia is the worst place in the country to live. Hey, she ain’t from here. Let her go back to where she came from. She doesn’t like it here.”
Get the visual in there. The GOP is insanely racist.
Once again: how on earth is that "racist" in any way? She's not from Georgia, he is correct. She is from Wisconsin where perhaps she would be happier.
Yeah I am wondering the same. Probably the PP whose mind jumps to somewhere other than *where she is from* is the racist.
She is from Georgia. She wasn’t born there but she went to high school there, went to college there, practiced law there, served in the legislature there, and helped the state move forward from its racist history. She is complaining about the Republican government that is nostalgic for the 1950s Georgia racist police state.
Nobody from Georgia says Georgia is the worst state to live in. I think Stacey Abrams does not identify as a Georgian.

Its economy rants 12th. Its infrastructure and fiscal stability both rank 11th.
Many of its other rankings are good.

In other words, Georgia is doing quite well compared to other states in our fine country.
Perhaps Abrams would like to reconsider her statement that Georgia is "the worst state in the country to live." She is clearly wrong.

Nothing like telling the people in the state you are running for governor in that they live in a crappy state.
That is not really a winning message at all.
Didn't Drumpf say similar things about America while running for president? I suppose then it was okay.
Cite a quote that he did. We'll wait.
Um, “make America great again” meant that it wasn’t great at the time.
I personally find it amusing that the best defense you have is that she basically stole her campaign slogan from a man (and whose leadership) you vehemently despise. What a candidate!
