Moving a tiny part of an already split feeder hardly seems like a solution to the over enrollment at McLean and under enrollment at Langley.

With the modular McLean is projected to be under capacity with the proposed boundary change by 2024-25.
They should have built an addition at McLean years ago, not added seats at Langley where they weren’t needed, but given where things now stand the staff’s recommendation is a sensible way to balance the enrollments.
Which means we will be stuck with ridiculous split feeders for years. They should get rid of those now while they have the chance.
There have been split feeders in FCPS for many decades. This isn't something new.
People rarely complain about split feeders when they split to the wealthier school. Few at Franklin Sherman zoned for Langley have been pleading to be reassigned to McLean, even though about 90% of FS goes to McLean, and few at Lemon Road or Westgate zoned for McLean have been pleading to be reassigned to Marshall, even though about 80% of LR and Westgate go to Marshall.
I trust FCPS sees through the whining, and will make a decision soon and move on. They already ruled out moving all the Longfellow/McLean kids at Colvin Run and Spring Hill to Cooper/Langley, as it would move too many kids, leave McLean over 15% under-capacity in a few years, and create more problems at Cooper during its upcoming renovation.
I’d really love to know how you could possibly be privy to any of that. Please cite your source.

Contact Elaine Tholen. Then contact the Colvin Run Principal and see who he/she recommends to contact. There are definitely region assistant superintendents you can contact as well as the people who actually did the “study”.
These people tend to listen to the loudest voices and their “studies” are flawed and contain little actual data.
They should really move all of Colvin run and all of Spring Hill to cooper/Langley and eliminate the split feeders.
They really should not, nor will they. They ran those numbers and it doesn’t work. That’s why it wasn’t one of the options presented in December or the staff’s final recommendation.
DP. Of course they should. Split feeders are ridiculous and serve no one.

Not dumb if you think it would have been a bad idea to just move more SFHs into Langley. And the Colvin Run area is still closer to McLean than to Langley.
? No it’s not. My kids went to Colvin Run/Cooper/Langley. McLean/Longfellow would have been farther away for us.
Colvin Run looks closer to Langley. Does it really matter if more SFHs go to Langley. Langley already has mostly all SFHs. What’s a few more?
PP here and I agree with you. This picking between SFHs, townhouses, and apartments, all in some misguided effort to make each school “equal,” is asinine.
And Tysons apartments aren’t cheap. You are not a free lunch kid living in those new apartments in Tysons.

Send all of westgate and lemon road to Marshall, all of spring Hill and colvin to Langley
