Then put on your masks, go to CVS, and happen to take a spin through the makeup and candy aisles and say “yes” to everything, suggesting silly or indulgent purchases along the way. That’s a chill but fun memory she will have.

I had no idea what to get so he talked me through the different types of products. He bought me pads, tampons, and pantylines. He told me to start with the pads, and to talk to my mom about the rest. Neither he nor I were mortified. Then we went to Ponderosa. It was actually not weird to me at all. With my oldest, She was 12. I was home but my husband went to the store for pads and brought them home and gave them to her as I stood there and then went about his life. I didn't get her a gift that day, as she was young to me and we were not expected it. I made her favorite meal and later got her birthstone earings to celebrate (weeks later)
