Hi all. I went to this camp for many years when I was younger. I had a great experience every year, but always thought Joe was weird. In my last year, I was going into freshman year of high school. I was reading a book about deemed inappropriate by my counselor (it had an abortion scene in it). Joe found out, got very mad, yelled at me and made me cry. I ended up calling my mom and she somehow resolved the situation. I am sure I was in the wrong partially, but making a kid cry over a book does not seem right for a camp director. Anyways, I never went back and was not surprised at all to see the bankruptcy claims and mistreatment of counselors. Do not send your daughters here unless it is sold.

Look at page 9, section 4.5, of the reorg plan. Class 2(B) creditors will be paid in five installments between 12/2022 and 12/2024.

The letter from Smith Kane Holman states “if you paid for camp prior to December 9, 2020, but did not attend, you are likely a “priority depositor creditor,” which means that you hold a Class 2(B) Claim and will receive a payment in full pursuant to Section 4.5 below if the Plan of Reorganization is confirmed.”

“The Debtor believes that its Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization is in the best interest of all creditors and, thus, urges you to vote to ACCEPT the Debtor’s Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization.”

So according to this letter, it appears that it’s in our best interest to accept this reorg plan so that we can receive the deposit back from camp for Summer 2020?

Yes we received the ballot too. Not sure what to do though. We have until 7/15/22 to accept or reject the ballot.

Did anyone else who is part of the bankruptcy case get a notice this week asking for approval of their bankruptcy reorganization plan? I can get a lawyer to look at it but wondering if anyone else did and understands the ramifications of approval. Do we need to approve to get paid? Doesn’t even say if we will get paid?

And I’m happy for those who continue enjoy the camp, but it still frustrates me that they were so dishonest with us with their financial situation two years ago- and that we still haven’t be repaid for money we laid out in 2019.

There was a 2-week at Camp Rim Rock offering in the recent McLean Little League online auction, so I'm guessing yes they're going ahead, but no idea re: the case or the "conversion".

Retail was listed as $3250, went for $2675.

My experiences with camp haven’t been the best, but it was never because of the owner. I can’t speak for other people, but my experience with the owner has not been bad. I know that when you file for bankruptcy, paying the counselors is probably the last thing on your mind. Even with this being said, it is not an excuse for people who worked hard all summer to not be compensated for their hard work and effort put in to make sure that kids have an amazing camp experience. After reading this whole thread, I’m definitely more aware of this situation and will keep it in mind while attending camp.

Does anyone have an update on what may be going on now? It appears that they are holding camp for 2022. Has the ownership changed? My daughter would love to do an overnight horseback riding camp, but it sounds like there has been financial mismanagement and counselors weren't paid over the past summer. I don't want to sign her up if the ownership hasn't changed.

Yes, the camp is owned by camp rim rock LLC. That’s why this thread got started, because the property was originally up for auction before the owner declared chapter 11.

A friend who is a BK attorney said that in these businesses the asset may be in the real estate. Wondering there will be sufficient funds to pay creditors if the camp owns real estate and the business gets liquidated in a Ch 7. Does anyone know if the property is owned by the camp?
