I know Capital has a very good track record, but where are they expecting to get their talent next year for the 25s? Pride already has a solid 25 team. Competitive with all the Baltimore teams. MC Elite, not so much. That said, might be tough to make an already established Pride team. Interesting to me that Capital has been so successful when they just start up at HS age where as a lot of the MD teams already have set rosters by that point. But track record shows both ways are working...

There was nothing for little girls for my now highschool DD until she was in at least third or fourth grade. The first rec programs were in VA counties and for residents only. DC and MD girls had nothing until Bethesda lacrosse added a girls rec program in around 2010 or maybe a little later. For rec, club and even clinics/lessons there were a tiny fraction of the options now available.
The pool of young female players has exploded in the DMV in the past decade. The sport continues to grow in this area. We needed another, in fact several other, great hs clubs in addition to Capital. The area has at least enough girls to field several high school aged club teams, and good quality teams at that. For example, for the 2022 class, Capital, Cardinal and MCElite have all been ranked in the top 20 teams nationally. For the 2023 class Pride has joined that group. The DMV has at least 3-4 programs that are considered top programs NATIONALLY!!!
This is a GREAT THING people, not something to fight about. Hopefully families will soon not need to drive to Baltimore to join teams there. There are now top players, programs and coaches in several HS programs, specifically Capital, Cardinal, MCElite, Pride and VA Metro. The fortunes of each club will wax and wane but we, especially we women and Mom’s, should be thrilled that women’s lacrosse is growing and improving so quickly in our area. That’s a HUGE ACHIEVEMENT FOR OUR ATHLETIC DAUGHTERS. Let’s be happy about that and stop tearing apart clubs, girls and each other.
MC Elite really shouldn't be mentioned with Capital and Pride at this point....sad drop off there

This is a great post really. But as a parent with an 8th grader trying to decide which of these clubs to tryout for next year its really difficult. MC Elite and Capitol seem to be on downward trajectories where Pride is going the other way (according to what I have read here of course) and rankings. Its just hard to determine what will work out best so anything we can gain from reading these boards is helpful. I think or should I say I hope.

Super good goal...best club over 15 years, maybe...ideally your goal should be looking forward and ramping your game up as the competition has started to enter the market. Defending your turf by looking back is a losing strat. Tell everyone why it is the best option going forward Mr or Mrs. Capital avid defender? That's what they young families want to know.
Turning the question around, what club do you consider a better option for the HS years then, if it's not Capital in your eyes? I'm sure most already know the answer, but outside of going to a Maryland team, what do you consider better?
Ok. So you answer a question around why is it the best option going forward in the DMV with a question around is there a better option?? Got it. So lets all settle for the status quo??
So basically you can't answer the question but just respond with more BS? Not surprised.

Capital has a track record. Period. Its really that simple. Yes, they lose some matches in the early window of the three years of the program, but overall, its really hard to grasp how broad and deep their history is with women's lacrosse, There are only a handful of programs that compete with them year-in and year-out - and that's for both teams. They had multiple D1 commits on their second team. Think about that. They have multiple Ivies. Multiple near Ivies. NESCAC, etc. No program is perfect - at all, and no club is going to get your daughter the commitment. But again, on balance, showing up in Capital shirt at a camp or clinic, whenever that can happen again, gets you noticed. Does it seal the deal, no, but with the odds of landing a lacrosse scholarship around 50-1, you have to look for edges. Capital is that edge in this area, as are the top teams at M&D, Heroes and Sky Walkers. But don't kid yourself that an emerging program, no matter how hard the club hustles or well-meaning will get into the same tournaments, brackets, as Capital and the others. It just won't happen. Could it happen in 5-10 years? Maybe. But we didn't take that chance when life got hard, and it definitely will. It does for everyone. Better to stop looking outside at the answer for the problem, and instead look in the mirror. Capital is a tool - a good tool and probably best of class in the area. But go in eyes wide open.
