Please please please John Kasich as a conservative moderate voice of reason.

Maybe Sec Labor?

Secretary of State; book it.

I see United States Trade Rep for the first four years, then Secretary of State in the next administration. USTR is the perfect position for him, given his language and negotiation skills. It will also be an opportunity to build his resume with real foreign policy experience. I love Buttigieg but he is in no way qualified for Secretary of State at the moment.

I disagree on USTR. We need a trade technocrat (like Lighthizer) for that position to carefully balance the dismantling of the domestically destructive Section 301 tariffs while at the same implement substantive policies to keep China in check. We'll also need somebody who has good relations/connections with Congress to persuade members of Congress on future trade deals, ala the TTP.

Hopefully, he has black people, specifically black women in the majority of the positions.

There is no one that will argue with her credentials. She would be one of the most experienced Secretaries of State to ever step into the position. She could hit the ground running and would be able to immediately start righting the horrible degeneration of the US foreign policy reputation that Trump and his rotating clown car of Sec States caused over the last 3.5 years.

She’s awful though. Poor judgement and poor temperament. Maybe Samantha Powers would be better

I don't think that's fair. I think the problem was Hillary Clinton, not Susan Rice. Rice took the fall for Hillary Clinton and was scapegoated in place of Clinton. It wasn't her fault and she was not given the preparation to deal with the aftermath of Clinton's problems.

She was the National Security Adviser. Come on.

Agree on Susan Rice. And while I get the urge to do the bolded, I think that's a bad place for Biden to operate from. If Biden has to do that at some point, do it with a pick that would sail through in normal times. Susan Rice, neck deep in the Benghazi response, and who has been described as "legendarily abrasive," is not that pick. She might be a good pick for Chief of Staff or as an adviser of some type.

Samantha Power comes across as kind of a loon. Too far left, and also an Obama re-tread.

State is in shambles after Trump. They need a leader that has both foreign policy experience and experience running a large, complex enterprise. Buttigieg has the potential, but not the experience. It's way too risky to trust the State Department right now to someone with Buttigieg's level of experience.

I don't know who it will be, but it won't be him. It probably won't be anyone who sucks up a lot of media attention either. That's simply not what State needs right now.

+1000. I think Biden might turn to Chris Coons.

I know people are saying that Pete is overqualified to be Press Secretary, but I actually think it’s a way, way, way more important and strategic role than it normally is. The Rs and Russians have been running very sophisticated disinformation campaigns since Obama’s first term. There is a sizable part of our population that believes insane things. Pete is uniquely talented and gifted at explaining things and helping solidify communication about the Dem’s platform that I think could go a long way in bringing people along.

I think he should do that role for a year or 2. It would also raise his profile in preparation for a future presidential run. He can have a more substantial role in the latter part of this administration.

No to Mitt.

He has become incapable of taking a real stand.

Why not? She’s immensely qualified.

BECAUSE WE CAN’T SPARE HER SENATE SEAT. THE GOVERNOR OF MASSACHUSETTS IS A REPUBLICAN.
- sorry for yelling, this has been thoroughly discussed in dozens of threads

+1, I also think she is better suited to the senate. She could be the lion of the senate all Ted Kennedy.

Thank you!

I don’t know why people think it’s ok to have people with no experience running huge federal agencies.

Pete being the UN Ambassador is fine. SecState? No way.

I agree. But boy did 45 set the bar low for what experience meant. One thing about Pete I might add though, he used to work for McKinsey. Not saying that totally certifies him as a competent SoS, but he def has the chops and experience to fix messed up mgmt.
