From the perspective of those of us calling you prudes, those 'different value systems' and 'different reasons offered' are just different paths you follow to being prudish in your attitude towards your children's life.

Cautious with this one. You really risk alienating your kid and their partner this way. You're setting youself up in the perfect position of common enemy and tt's SO strict it runs the risk of serious rebellion. Like, sure we will get married! Telling a 30 year old she can't sleep under the same roof as a boyfriend of 4 years is pretty ludicrous.

I haven’t read through all the replies but my fairly strict parents started allowing this when I was 17 and a senior in high school, probably the summer before leaving for college. We weren’t technically supposed to bed share but I’d usually wander up to my room at around 5 am lol. I think by college it was fine. I am now a dr so I turned out okay.
