DD was Class of 2020 and it was sad to miss the milestones (virtual proms and graduations don’t really cut it). She missed not being able to say goodbye to friends and trachers in person the most and having that closure. Of course she saw the closest friends this summer but not the rest of her class.
Fingers crossed that Class of 2021 can have that.
Even worse, my 2020 grad can’t even go to her college.

To many people, high school isn't anything special compared to other experiences. You are very wrong to believe that senior year of high school is the be-all, end-all.
If you peaked as a senior in high school, and lived your best life then... I mean, you agree that it's sad, and a reflection on you, right?
All stages of life have fun and memorable experiences. Please don't stuff your senior's head full of regret and disappointment. Work on yourself. You sorely need it.

It is sad. People are allowed to grieve for different things, you know.
DD was Class of 2020 and it was sad to miss the milestones (virtual proms and graduations don’t really cut it). She missed not being able to say goodbye to friends and trachers in person the most and having that closure. Of course she saw the closest friends this summer but not the rest of her class.

My 19 year old very proudly rides a bike (the word for it is “”cycling” at that age)!

OMG, kids feed on parents energy. I think we should be in schools as well but i am not running around waxing poetic about all of the missed opportunities to my kids and stating their lives will suck now.

I would have loved to have missed a year or two of high school. I did all the usual stuff like prom and homecoming, but none of it really mattered in the long run.

I totally agree with this. I like high school. It was fine. But I was so happy to be out of there. I went to prom because that’s what you did, not because I was so excited. Same with all the other things. It will be Ok. It ducks for sure, but I had much more fond memories of other things I’ve done in my life. I took up a new adventure hobby in my 30’s. I relive those memories much more than my big school years.
