The Board has been very clear in past meetings that you can find online that they want at least 25% of each race in the racial category + 25% low income minimum. it's public

Where do we send the re-eval request? To Maloney or somewhere else??

Keep asking for re-evaluations. The more of us that ask, the more clued in they might get.

Yes Please lets do it.
Someone start a petition
Or start an email , and we will all follow

I think we should do a joint petition and raise our concerns.

The crazy thing, this isn’t Harvard. It’s elementary school AAP. Is it possible to jointly petition for re-evaluations? Who can we alert as to what is going on here? Superintendent ?

My kid got rejected with wisc 140, we are not Asian or Hispanic or American. We never prepped our child and his gbrs is good, all grades are 4 . Still rejected and cannot make sense of this. How is this holistic?

We received the holistic approach answer from Maloney as well. Still sent an email for re-evaluation request and didn’t receive any response to that. I am going to send an email to superintendent and his team to alert them about this.

Yes, they don’t make sense at ALL. I think its something to do with COVID, lack of teachers etc...But VERY disappointing.

This may be one of the reasons: They started to lower the numbers of non-AA students accepted to the program. Just my two cents.

You may be very correct on accepting more non- AAs. I sent an email to Kristen Maloney (Fairfax Coordinator) asking for more info and I got a cookie cutter response on it being a “holistic approach.” They said they don’t review individual files and give feedback. Great. Thx

Did anyone get a reply to their request for re-evaluation?

There are couple of examples here of kids with high WISC who got rejected. But we can conclude that everyone with high WISCs are being rejected.

How are kids who deserve to be let in, being rejected? At least give answers. And WHY are kids who did NOT submit WISCS being accepted but those who did (and scored very high) being rejected?

This is crazy. My completely unremarkable child made it in on appeal last year with just a few more work samples. Lowish test scores. Wisc was low so we didn’t include it.

AAP is filled with so many completely unremarkable children with lowish test scores. It's appalling that kids who are actually remarkable with gifted scores are getting rejected.

I think the committee thinks that a kid who is very accomplished with high test scores is the product of a tiger mom, while kids who are above average are basically the same as the gifted kids, but without the parental pushing.
