Clayton is an odd pick for SDNY because he doesn’t have prosecutorial experience. But he is otherwise a highly competent lawyer and reasonable/honest person.

That's a bad guess then because Barr can always go after Bolton or Biden himself or through a special prosecutor.

Not if he doesn't want it to look like a bald political act. It has to be something immediate and in the now. Trump doesn't plan things out ahead of time. I also think it has to be an action rather than an inaction.

And this is why, no matter what it is that Donald Trump has done, I ALWAYS name the GOP as well. This is a systemic problem within the GOP: they are all guilty of enabling this, which means they want this.

Frankly, I think Berman might actually have been doing his job or letting the attorneys beneath him do theirs and continue to investigate Trump and his spawn, Barr, etc., and Trump couldn’t handle it.

I further wonder if Donald’s dementia is getting to the point where it will be undeniable to even the most fervent Trumpers, if the Trump side is trying to negotiate a no-prosecute agreement in return for his resignation and if SDNY is refusing to play ball because the crimes are so heinous.
