Of course you do and of course it is. Regardless, white people are a majority(still? are they still?) in the United States. And hold the political and economic power and the military in their hands. So, minorities do need help of some white people to see the change happen. I'd rather see white people join against racists. When kids of racists start joining anti racist protest changes can happen in many racist families.

Go out and peacefully protest. On Wednesday at 5pm go to your town center, busy intersection and take a knee. Then do what many of you do best, post on social media lines and lines of regular white people taking the knee.

Yes, get to work. If you have kids you should really be doing what you can to learn about racism in America--its been part of our country since the beginning and we need to do our part to eradicate it. Here are some books to help: White Fragility by DiAngelo, So
If you have kids make sure you buys books about people of color. If you don't know where to start look up books by Jason Reynolds, Kwame Alexander, Kekla Magoon, Jacqueline Woodson, and Angie Thomas. My kids (and I) have enjoyed their books.
Books that might help you, How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi as well as his book Stamped From The Beginning are both excellent (for kids or you try Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi). So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo is incredibly helpful. Michael Eric Dyson's Tears We Cannot Stop: A Sermon to White America. Dyson wrote the foreward to White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism by Robin DiAngelo which is excellent and I think a must read for white people. Another helpful book for white people who are ready to do something constructive is Waking Up White by Debby Irving.

I would also say seek out Black Media and voices. Twitter makes that easier these days. Support Black institutions like historically black colleges and universities, black businesses, black writers. Those are some things you can do to start. Above all as you do this, be humble, be curious, be willing to challenge yourself and be uncomfortable. That is where real growth happens. Thank you for caring. If you do the work, you will never regret it.
Suppose she has already done this. Suppose she has already read the literature, the studies. Supposed she owns the implicit bias in herself. And now she wants to do something active. Something to make things better. Besides vote, is there nothing she can do besides sit and feel good that she has educated herself?

Stop making it all about you, even when you’re “trying to help.” Thinking that it’s your fight or you have anything to contribute is arrogant white privilege in and of it itself. That you cannot see that is ironic and troubling.

Not the PP to you whom you are responding but will try a different tact. The onus on us white folks is educate ourselves and reduce harm - there is so much harm reduction that needs to be done in white communities - you will never run out of things to do.

+ every one of the hundreds of Black relative, peer, colleague, friend, i know. If I think to everyone at my wedding, no one would be so proud as to not welcome a champion from a white woman. That is a strong voice of influence that has been studied and written about since slavery was abolished.

I’m Jewish, and although I don’t compare being Jewish in America today to being black...I am well aware that’s not a comparison...when acts of anti-semitism happen, I find it comforting to hear non Jewish people condemn those acts.
I don’t think I’m anyone’s savior. But I do hope if I make it clear that I don’t support racism, it makes it more uncomfortable for other people to be racist.
Agreed. As a Muslim-American I appreciate words of solidarity from non-Muslims when islamophobic events happen (think: New Zealand mosque massacre and the like). We must all unite and show solidarity.

Yeah, the white savior label seems to be a better fit for the evangelical types who think they need to go to parts of the world they consider "uncivilized" and convert them to Christianity. At the end of the day it is self-serving. I think a lot of white people genuinely want to do the right thing right now, and don't care if they receive attention or adulation from it. They are realizing that none of this changes if they don't get involved because they are the ones who have upheld it, not because they think they need to "save" black people.

There's real racism, and a need for everyone to try to fight it, and for black people to take charge in confronting whoever or whatever is really causing the problems, when that's possible.
And there are also people of all types, including black people, who are arrogant, entitled, mean people, and who use racist oppression as an excuse to be as mean as they probably would be if they were rich white people, or middle-income Asian people.
You think you're speaking up for black people and opposing The Man and saying your say, or whatever, but you're also really mean.
You're probably as mean to the black people around you as you are to the white people. You may not even know that, because you've terrorized them into silence by being really mean.
If you ever get real power, you'll be very mean, and you'll create a mean power structure that happens to be led by you, instead of by a white person.
I think a lot of us are trying to accommodate you, because we want for the world to be better. But accommodating you is actually as wrong as accommodating a toxic white racist. You're just two sides of the same cruel coin.
