So do you think that means you'd be allowed into Acadia? That's what is holding us up. I can envision park rangers not letting in people with out of state plates who can't prove that they've quarantined for 2 weeks.

I have not seen anywhere that hiking is allowed under this batty honor system quarantine. Can you please link?

COVID-19 Current Update:

Starting June 1st, Maine Governor, Janet Mills will allow short term rentals and hotels but has placed an order for those who are staying in short term rentals and hotels in the state of Maine. These guidelines apply to those traveling from out of state into the state of Maine and Maine residents who are traveling back into the state.

The order calls for a 14 day quarantine for those traveling into Maine. This does not mean that you are required to stay 14 days in Maine but while you are here, you must follow these guidelines for 14 days or for the length of time that you are in Maine.

Guidelines from Governor Mills:
-Guests need to bring everything that they may need for their stay - groceries, toiletries, etc. so that when they arrive, they are not going to stores or public places to run errands. Guests may only go to a store if there is an emergency and must practice social distancing.
-Guests are not to interact with others outside of the group that they are traveling with.
-Guests must use their own car and avoid public transportation.
-Guests can participate in outdoor actives such as a walk or a hike but must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
-This is an honor system and these guidelines are expected to be followed so that “all will be well”.

Thank you! So helpful. I wish they were a little stricter (honor system is not something I think Americans do well with), and I say that as someone who very much hopes to take her Maine vacation this summer. I just don't want to put people there at risk. It's like a second home to us, so I really hope people will be respectful. Sticking to your group, bringing your own stuff, wearing a mask, and social distancing is not a tough set of asks right now.

Quarantine in your house for 14 days before you leave, drive there without making rest stops. You won't be spreading anything. I wish *that* was the honor system, as I'd sure like to eat some Maine lobster and drink some Maine craft beer after going on my hike.

That would be nice. Surely, though, the quarantine order leaves room for contactless delivery? I can't imagine that Maine establishments aren't dropping lobster rolls and beer at houses on the regular.

Could that happen without interacting with the delivery person?

-Guests are not to interact with others outside of the group that they are traveling with.

Why would it be different than the contactless delivery that we do here? You order the food, you pay online, you ask them to leave the food on the driveway or on the porch. No interaction. Would that be ok?

Sounds reasonable. I honestly haven't done contactless delivery, so i wasn't aware of exactly how the process works.

DH and I have driven to southern Maine in 9 hrs by trading off. I think we made it to Maine border before needing gas. I never really thought about where we got gas before, but I know we wanted to get to hotel first, then get gas the next day.

DO YOU PEE??????

Okay, this is for the women on this forum — as we all know, there are no open bathrooms anywhere —

My wife typically just uses a large coffee mug, but dangit that's an attractive device. And her birthday is coming up! I'm not even kidding.

wtf

I hope this is a joke

Nope. If you want to avoid nasty rest stops and lack of open bathrooms on road trips/parks/beaches.

I mean, I'm with you on hating nasty rest stops. I can't stand them. But I can't make it that long.
