No matter how much you want to make this about a small local soccer club the real discussion is about how effective will American style soccer be moving forward as nations like Spain developing kids every bit as athletic as ours?

The PDA game was certainly just one data point but it should not be ignored or dismissed either. PDA did not have a athletic advantage over Barca, so moving forward, assuming European nations will draw more athletic girls into the sport how will we adapt?

Why not stick to that as a topic and stop worrying about some bogeyman at Evergreen.

The kid following this path will most likely have never make a DA/ECNL team in the US. The training and playing competition there is not comparable to the environments you see on the top teams at high level clubs. Outside of a few outliers, they will suffer as a result of the lack of good internal competition and being wed to a playing style (tiki taka) that isn't in favor in the DA/ECNL. Dead end unless they are good enough to play for Barcelona in Spain, because they don't mesh well with players who don't play in that exact scheme.

This is just comically ignorant. Barca may not be a better option than a dozen other development-oriented local clubs, but pushing to a DA/ECNL club before high-school age will offer no benefit over a well-coached team in a small club. And thinking that a player who learned how to implement a system and style of play can't adapt to another style better than someone from DA or ECNL who has never been taught how to play within a structured system is just bass-ackward. Learning how to "get rid of it" when young will make it harder to learn how to keep it later, but learning how to keep the ball when young does not make it harder to get rid of it should you choose to later on.

LOL tiki taka....I guess you are referring to the style of play demanded in major European professional leagues? DA/ECNL is not a very high bar for soccer in terms the rest of the world. In general it’s actually a dumped down game relying on primarily athleticism.

Here are some DA players talking about playing for the equivalent of US DA/ECNL in Germany. They talk about speed of play or as you call it Tiki Taka.

DA/ECNL are okay for what they are ...a minor league for college soccer and college soccer is not even a minor league equivalent.

Here’s the thing. PDA most likely had players come through their system with similar potential as the Barca players showed. They were not selected or developed because you do not need them to win in our dumped down game.

It's not too late. This winter get her in a good futsal program like DC or NPC or get her on some indoor teams and get her playing in small spaces where ball control is mandatory. She'll have fun and the fundamentals you say she's lacking will come along tremendously. Most DA/ECNL coaches see themselves as the end not a means to an end, the progress they make playing on those teams is minimal unless they're doing something else outside, it won't be hard to rocket past the rest. Can also be helpful to find a good trainer and get together a small group of about 4 players of similar level for some outside small group training. Individual training is great but a group of 4 gives you so many more options for progression it's better.

Ummm that’s what I’ve done with my U12 who’s been at Barca 3 years now. Played first team @big club first year u9 and wasn’t happy with training. Very happy with training the last two years at Barca. Team is very good too.

No, I'd go a step in a different direction and say the advertisers on this forum don't really have much to offer.

That's not related to the previous two posts, but of course there are many selling various different things on this forum. It could be via praising something. Or it could be attacking something else.

As for the previous two posts, if Barca Nova not going to ICC means anything, then the same meaning applies to all the other area clubs. And if it doesn't apply to them, then it doesn't apply to Barca.
