+1 All the hysterics on AEM are about won't anyone think of the poor, underprivileged children at Key! But that's all they care about, the specific subset of kids at Key (which can't fill its 50% Native Spanish quota). They don't care about underprivileged children near Key who can't/don't want to go to immersion and would be better served by a neighborhood school. Or underprivileged children who are closer to ATS and would be better served by that location, and more likely to choose it for their kids if it was closer to the concentration of Spanish speakers. And, if you point that out, you are racist.

It's good for their commute. Pure self interest disguised as concern for underprivileged children. You'll notice that very few ACTUAL neighborhood families (of any complexion or income level) are out their trying to screw their neighbors. It's the people who attend Key from outside the immediate area.

McKinley is currently my neighborhood school, and I have NO IDEA what would incense a person to behave like that. It's a building, Karen. Your kids will be alright if they learn their fractions in another building.

Seriously. I'm hardly an APS booster but I actually sent a comment through the engage page saying that I thought the behavior last night was appalling and they didnt deserve it.
