Don’t even consider lowering your white collar self to his level.
And what level is that?
The level of gross blue collar loser.
Seriously, how could you even take him anywhere? What are you going to say when people ask "so what do you do, ______ ?" And he says "I"m a plumber. I fix toilets" ... what are you going to do then?
The horror! A man who gets dirt under his fingernails: what would the servants think?
They would probably wonder why I was lowering myself to someone in their station.

Dad is a CPA. He was surprised that tug boat captains
on the rivers that feed the Chesapeake supervising tugboats that push grain barges and gravel barges make around $200,000. The tugboat captains have good hours too.

The older I get the more I realize this. White collar careers are great too but our generation has really been steered in the wrong direction. There are many many blue collar jobs that pay incredibly well and many many white collar jobs that do not. Also many blue collars jobs translate well into a small business for those who are smart and ambitious.

People have no clue.
It doesn't matter how much money they make, they still have a disgusting job and no education, which was the whole point.
Those people will never, ever fit in with other UMC/UC people. They have absolutely nothing in common with anyone else in that income strata beyond HHI. On the other hand, a couple with advanced degrees, even if they are literally unemployed, would still have many, many things in common with well-off people, because they shared so many of the same life experiences (private schools, top tier colleges, postgrad experiences, etc.). Whereas the other couple literally shovels sh!t all day. They'll never be respected, they'll never be seen as a leer, as an equal, because they aren't. They're just poorly educated trash with money.

This might sound like a lie but it is absolutely the truth. I am blue-collar and dating a woman literally worth hundreds of millions of dollars. This woman is friends with world leaders and even royalty. We get along fantastically and have been dating for a while over a year. We are both in our 40s and previously married. Her world experience is amazing. By the time she was in college and she had already been in just about every country you can think of and grew up at the highest levels of society. I grew up as an army brat before entering the military and then proceeding to my current profession. I get along with her friends fantastically and she gets along with mine as well. Yes I’m going to marry more dinner parties that I would have never been invited to before but it is not that big of an adjustment to learn how to fit in. It’s actually quite nice, I have learned so much from her but she has also learned much from me. She fits in in my circles as well. One thing I have learned is that most people in genuine high society values the individual and their accomplishments not what they make or what they do for a living.

All this talk about how some blue collar workers earn as much if not more than white collar professionals and therefore are "worthy" is pretty messed up, IMO. It's as though their high income makes up for the failure in the job prestige Olympics.
