OP is not Christian. Same English issues as with the anti-Christian “Redemption” thread.
Whatever OP is, she’s referring to the fact that atheists on DCUM often insult religion and she’s calling these insults “conversion” attempts. Unfortunately, we all know that the issue goes much further that merely stating “I’m an atheist.” OP is undoubtedly referring to the constant insults about fairytales, Christofacism, the jerk BIL mentioned above, and so much more. Then there are the endless derailment attempts that involve, for example, whining all over a thread re “What would you do if you were God for a day?” about how the moderator deleted your post calling religion fairytales on that same thread. (Why did you/that poster keep whining there instead of starting your own dedicated thread to air your concerns about freedom of speech, like you were told? Your problem wasn’t anything high-minded about freedom of speech, it was derailment pure and simple.)

Trying to explain something logical to someone, or getting frustrated with people people for not thinking rationally, is not trying to "convert" them.
Could be OP thinks that if someone answers "What religion are you?" with "no religion, I'm an atheist" that it's an attempt to convert.
Or that when OP says something like "Let me tell you about Christianity", the person responds with "No thank you - I know about it and prefer being an atheist."
Also, could be that when confronted with such a response from such a normal-looking person, OP is perplexed and wants to know more and sees this as trickery on the part of the atheist -- perhaps the work of the devil, even though the atheist doesn't believe in the devil.

Anonymous wrote:Whose trying to convert you? If anything, it's Christians who try to mass convert people the most. How many Christian missionaries are there vs. atheist missionaries?

Conversion attempts by atheists or suffering similar to Job?
.....
Interesting.

I do not remember ever mentioning I’m an atheist to anyone that I’ve met in my life without the subject of religion being brought up first by the other person.
However, many people I’ve said it to, again after they brought up religion first, would act like I was violating their personal space as soon as I started saying what I do not believe in. If my lack of religion makes you feel uncomfortable, then why do I have to put up with you bringing up what you believe in? Seems like a huge double standard.
Your experience doesn't seem to quite fit in, if it's true that they always brought it up first, and assuming you were polite instead of insulting (which we don't know).
That's besides the point, though. This thread is about atheist jerks. Lots of religious people on this thread have acknowledged the jerks in their midst.
Surprisingly, just one atheist here seems willing to acknowledge that there are atheist jerks, and that was in the context of the egregious atheist brother-in-law who sought out and shamed a person of faith at pp's party. The rest of you (and one of you just said there are multiple of you) are intent on denying and rewriting everybody else's experiences of being attacked by an aggressive atheist jerk.
Here's the last post in the thread, so far as I can tell, that spoke to the thread topic. After that one of the atheists got threatened and started trying to derail (science & religion, ad hominems). Can we return to the topic now?
Still waiting
Returning to the thread topic.

Not unless my Aunt's "Praise Jesus" is also an attempt to convert..
Of course it is. It's saying "I'm smart and you're dumb." What else would you call it besides conversion?

That's cute that you want to attribute all negative and distracting posts down to two individuals.

Fine, the two of them have friends. The point is that discussion in this forum has gone markedly downhill since the arrival of the Christian martyr trolls and the smiley face atheist troll(s). Their level of discourse is about the same.
And what about the OP of this thread?
One of the Christian martyr trolls that has taken over this forum.
