I am a fed and work 7-3:30 most days from home. Have a horrible 1-2 hour commute to the DC office once a week. Have basically mommy tracked myself because I don't want to commute more and haven't found a step up that's not 3+ days in office.

Spouse is a professor with a one mile commute. Typically classes end at 5 PM.

Op, if you're working from home, you could move closer to DH's job if possible. In the long-run commutes are bad for your health and 45 min each way is pretty long (although not necesarily for the DMV).

I work about a mile away. Only need to be in the office a couple days a month, go in more frequently for a couple of hours. DH can work from anywhere as long as he can get on phone call within a couple of hours. He has not stepped foot in office in 4 years.

We don't live in the DC area, that's how.

DH is a C level executive and is sometimes home by 4:30-5. Some Fridays he's home by 3. He is in the office by 7:30/8 each morning. We live 4 miles from his work and it takes him 15-20 min tops.

I'm a teacher and I'm home by 5pm. Our school hours are 7:30-2:40. I usually stay at school until 4pm and work for another hour after the kids go to bed.

I work from home so I am always home but my dh is rarely home before 7:30-8pm. He usually huddled home to see the kids and help put them to bed and then logs in again after they go to sleep. We live about 12 miles from the city (where dh works) so his commute is around 30-45 minutes depending on traffic.

Both FT WAH no commute. One of us works 6-2/230 the other 915-515. We eat at our desks or during meetings. Our son is in daycare 9-430/5 now but will only be there from 9-230 starting in September. Im the 9-5 so I get mornings and then we are together as a unit after 530. Dad works 6-230 then will take our son to a park or playground or swimming- anything outside and active, until 430. Workout and prep dinner from 430-530. He does soccer 2x a week and swim 1x week. We eat at 630/7, bed by 730/8.

Our income reflect this flexibility.

Work from home for tech company. Boss also has young kids.

I work 7-5:30... that's 10 hours. What do you people do that takes more than 10 hours a day to get done?! 10 minute commute, which we prioritized when house shopping.

Where is this outpatient clinic? I’m an OT too

I am a director for an IT company and I manage about 50 people with a salary of 500k/yr. I work from 7:30am-5pm and also from 8pm-11pm, plus multiple hours on weekend.

To answer your question, I’m a lawyer who “mommytracked” herself into a crappy position that lets me leave the office at a regular time.

Same, but my position isn’t crappy. It’s one step below Partner. I’m expected to get my work done, but have full flexibility on where and when that happens.

In terms of actual job there:

How do you modify pricing?
What’s your competitor doing?
If you spent $1M on marketing via email or $1M marketing on radio, which is better? Why? How do you know? What if you are wrong?
How do you keep people engaged with your brand? (I.e. assuming it isn’t a one time sale)
What groups of people are leaving your brand? Which are joining? Where’s the business going in 3 years if you do nothing?
Are certain parts of the country doing better? Worse? Why? What can you do to change that or maintain that?
Etc.

Imagine you have millions of data points and have to figure out what they say. That’s basically the job.
