Old thread here but you are correct… incredible so many parents feel FCPS needs to cater to their 170 IQ kids… if people truly don’t like it, send your kid to private school. We were fortunate our child was accepted but the driving reason to be honest was to hopefully avoid problem kids that parents think is the responsibility of FCPS

There seems to be a base assumption here that everyone already knows process oriented things (addition, subtraction, etc.), so there is greater emphasis on thinking about relationships and explaining why things are, the way they are. I don't think she had ever been asked in her life, what the relationship between the two 7s in the number 739,745 is; it's that sort of tangential thinking that I feel is more emphasized here. I quite like it (she does not, because she's used to cruising).
I did mean to add that she IS cruising through pretty much everything else. I don't know what they do in language arts besides read, and she's reading several grade levels ahead, so it isn't as much of a big deal. I think she said that the only difficulty she encountered on that front, is 5th grade Jacob's Ladder, which they were administered in error.
