Yeah, this is over the top
Agree, but it could be a nervous/self consciousness thing too.
You always feel bigger than you are when preg and being under the microscope may make MM feel really paranoid so she kinda puts her hand there....?...which ironically really just draws more attention to it.
I thought her face and arms are bloated.
Her baby kicked her in a video (you can see the foot and everything against her stomach o.o) and you can see her hand move to touch the kick. First-time mom with movements and flutters. Hands to settle it down or bring comfort.

The kid is saying THIS DRESS IS TOO TIGHT!
Meghan is a PR master. One engagement with a tight dress later the conversation turns from her pathetic father and a fake bump to - ooh look there’s the baby!
Well, I think a lot of Brits are wondering why she visited a retirement home for entertainers, yet cannot find the time to visit or call her father, a retired member of the entertainment industry.
There were jokes that Piers Morgan, host of Good Morning Britain, would/should fly MM's father to the retirement home so he could see his daughter.
A dress will not stop this family drama. All she needs to do is call her father. And yes, if he goes running to the tabloids, all he would say would be glowing details -- that would work to MM's advantage to the masses. She is not winning this PR battle.
She treats her own family poorly. Beyond poorly. She abandons people who don't help her climb up the social ladder. Where are her friends from her 20s and her acting days? No genuine friendships. It's all use and abuse.
Her lack of enduring friendships, or relationships of any kind really, reminds of Angelina Jolie. And we all know how she turned out. It's just not normal.

She gushed about him on her social media accounts- even if he was an idiot about the media it’s weird that she’s completely cut him off. She even called herself a daddy’s girl. Also weird that’s the only member of her family at her wedding was her mom. She seems just as dysfunctional as her family.
Another “Daddy’s Girl” here: just this year, I realize how deeply my dad emotionally exploited me for decades. Watching him do the same to my younger sister has caused me to avoid him. Glad Meghan figured it out a fair bit younger than I did.

Are you guys all older moms? Younger moms (including Markle's generation; I'm in it) often do stretchy tops/dresses and don't buy actual maternity stuff. All this pearl-clutching over the stretchiness of the dress just seems old-fashioned. If you're younger, it seems petty.
um...not so young. She's 37, or AMA (Advanced Maternal Age). I'm 40, so in her generation and I would never wear that dress, bought maternity stuff, etc.) Younger moms = 20-something to lower 30-something.
PP here. I didn't buy much maternity stuff at all, and I'm between your age and Megan's. When I think of those maternity tent shirts etc., I think of people in my mom's generation.
Perhaps a better term is cohort vs. younger moms. More recent cohorts of moms seem to be wearing less maternity clothes. That one should cover up one's pregnant belly just seems like a dated notion.

If my son brought home someone with MMs background and character traits, I’d tell him to run.

Again, please link to article that says he wants HER to fund his retirement.
All I read is that he wants to talk to her.
And no, I do not expect my DCs to take care of me in my retirement. I'm not one of those people you are referring to, and I cannot ever remember reading one DCUM poster saying that. I've been on this site for many years.
He paid for her college education as most good parents do and she had student jobs and a career the moment she left the university. From then on she repaid his kindness but she doesn’t owe him whatever he put down. As a parent you do that with no expectations on a return.
As for him wanting her to find his retirement/income, any idiot can read between the lines. Why else would he be selling pictures to the paparazzi and conversations to TMZ before the wedding! She was talking to him then. Why else is would he continue to sell interviews, pictures and her mementos after her marriage?
All he had to do was respect her wishes and walk her down the aisle. But for some reason he couldn’t do that and when she cut him off he thinks harassing her by using the press will solve the problem? It just proves she can’t trust him and I don’t know what kind of father would simultaneously be so ignorant and cruel as to do what he’s done to his own family.
But it’s not out of character - he abandoned his first wife and children to marry Meghan’s mom. It’s all about what he wants.
OMG, Meghan sounds just her dad, abandoning her first husband, then the celebrity chef (who she was still living with when she met Harry).
What's the name of the chef?
Cory Vitiello.
