I haven't seen or heard anything about this and highly doubt they would allow it. It's one thing at the younger ages, teenage years are completely different.
I think this is just a rumor.
There was a PPT on the now closed DA vs ECNL vseverything else forum that I read through. So I was wondering if that was maybe a thought for coming plans or if it is actually in the works.

Not sure I would agree with that. The games this weekend were all very close (U16s in EDP drew 1-1 also), and last year they both won some, lost some. Top to bottom I think the two clubs are pretty evenly matched, with maybe a slight edge to DC, but not much. On any given day either of team could win. Given the huge recruitment advantage DCU has, Bethesda has to get a lot of credit for being able to stay close to them.
Sorry, my comment was not intended to be disrespectful to Bethesda, but the balance of power has clearly shifted, probably mostly because of DCU's big recruitment advantage. Bethesda DA may be the most competitive out of non-MLS DAs in our area, but DCU is getting better results in head to head in DA league at the moment: 3 wins, 1 loss, 1 tie.

Kind of like playing up: if you play up or if you are a girl on a boys' team, you have to be held to the same standards, not get "extra credit" for being young or for being a girl. To me, they are similar ideas.

DC United has been much more organized and stable for the last year or two. They have a decent academy director and have had less coaching turnover. That makes a big difference. Hopefully they'll be able to build on this, though it would help a ton if the academy got more funding from DC United.
I think they are the only MLS pay-to-play academy at the moment, which is rather sad. A couple of other MLS franchises also have pay-to-play academy with multiple teams, but the top youth team for each group is free.
