I actively despise this name. So plain. If you are going for classic/traditional at least do something beautiful like Katherine.
I love the name Mary. But this thread is about best names you've heard recently not your opinion about the names other people post.
Mary is a great name. I also really like Marie. Heard that recently. Love it as a first.

Elena is better.
To each his own, I guess. Elena is much more common and to my ear sounds harsher.
I cannot understand how someone would think that a name consisting of vowels, l, and n is harsh. Harsh must mean something different to you than it does to me.

Mine, too! I met a little Minnie when I was in Los Angeles last fall and just fell in love with the name. The little girl was pretty gorgeous and smart so maybe it was the association. I think her formal name was Willamina.
I would roll my eyes at a Wilhelmina going by Minnie. Better just to be named Minnie. I’m not a huge fan of Minnie either though! What if she’s chubby?
What if she is chubby? I love the name Wilhelmina and Minnie is absolutely an adorable nickname.
Wilhelmina is such a mouthful. You would never use it. Hopefully the parents tried before the kid wanted to be called Mini. But more likely the parents picked the ridiculous name in order to call her Mini from birth. It’s cute on a puppy. But the cute 2yo is going to grow out of cute.

Why wouldn't you? The only Wilhelmina I've ever known went by Wilhelmina.
