This story has so many facets. LGBTQ, white women adopting black children, political activism, homeschooling, child abuse, possible outcomes of calling CPS/CPS actions, murder/suicide.
What on earth was this video? That poor little boy.
I know! Why is no one besides you me and the poster who linked the video commenting? Everyone is stuck on the damn t-shirts. The video is really, really disturbing and inappropriate.
Another facet is mental illness which is common in that community. Adoptions should require a mental health evaluation instead of assuming people who fit a certain stereotype should automatically be assumed a good, qualified parent, etc.
So many of the moms behaviors were extremes and should have been red flags to the authorities.

If you look at the crowd footage, the only kids in that video appear to be these 6 children. The rest of the crowd appears to be a crop of new age hippies. Props. Those kids were feel good props for those women.

No one seems to talk about having seen them recently other than the neighbors when the children came to ask for food.
Withholding food is such an abusive control tactic as it also physically and mentally weakens the victims.

I wished the one mom who plead guilty to child abuse went to jail. Maybe she would have received the help she needed and the kids could have been reassigned a proper family.
I would not haven even trusted the moms with a therapy dog, for it to would have been abused and likely killed.

Although minor, another thing I noticed was the boy wasn't wearing any shoes or socks. These moms could not even meet the children's basic needs.
In a way this reminds me of the NYC nanny who murdered two of the children she cared for. She keeps trying to make excuses by saying she had nothing but LOVE for those children she stabbed (one just 6 years old 30 times) and nearly decapitated. She and her son refer to it as the "mistake or incident" that was so well planned it could not be the case.

Pp, I also find the video disturbing. There is so much pain in the boy's body language. The way he clings to the singer...

Gymboree happened to have a pirate themed clothing line out at the time, so I bought each of them an outfit from the line for our visit to the museum. My oldest was 8 at the time. It never occurred to me that it was abusive and CPS should have got involved.
Stop being obtuse. No one is saying that a one off of young kids wearing matching outfits is abusive. But yes, if your kids are now in the 12-18 age range and when you go out as a family you require them to wear matching outfits - then yes, that is a massive red flag.
Yes, please. Your oldest was 8 years old at the time - not relevant.
