These threads are so stupid. It's impossible to accurately summarize the preferences of half the population (i.e. men). Most of the men I know are married to successful professionals, and I genuinely can't imagine most of them dating a nanny or similar seriously. Their serious relationships have all been with women they viewed as intellectual peers. On the other hand, lots of men don't care about their partner's professional success or earning potential. People are all over the map.

All my life, I've noticed this. There are the women that other women consider gorgeous and attractive, but men find them just okay. And then there are the women that other women find just okay, but men find them gorgeous and attractive. Men and women obviously don't have the same taste.

She is right most women are absolutely delusional about what men like, hence the large number of women that think "sarcastic" is attractive. Funny how jealous women try to find fault in others. Your "challenge" comment is telling, no most people do not want someone who challenges them, are you dating or training for a fight? +1. I have a friend that always gets lots of guys. When we are in a group, she’s the one who always gets men buying us drinks. She is funny and sarcastic and has a high powered career -is challenging. If anything, a lot of men find her “too much” and “too busy”, doesn’t make them a priority, once they get to know her better. It isn’t the funny, sarcastic and challenging that is getting us drinks. My friend is very pretty with a great figure, glamorous more than girl next door in her case, and for meeting men that’s what counts most.

We used to joke that one of our college friends must have had crazy pheromones (she joked with us). She was pretty but in an unusual way--dark hair, green eyes, a smattering of freckles, big nose, slightly crooked front teeth--not your classically beautiful, proportioned features at all. She was curvy but not fat--a very womanly fit body but wide hips. A great smile, a twinkle in her eye, confident, funny. And she looked different than the sea of wasps blondarexics at our Ivy League college. Men fell over themselves to date her. Going out with her was an amazing thing to observe. One of our male friends just said that she was "sexy"--not beautiful, but alluring, that whole was greater than the sum of the parts....and I think it is great. glad to know that you don't have to try to be a cookie cutter beauty--she was someone who truly embraced who she was and had huge confidence (not ego) at a young age....

Sometimes it's hard to tell. Could be something you are missing. Maybe you don't catch her subtle flirting.

I'm not gorgeous, and if dressed to the 9s, people might stare, but I found I was approached more when I wore something casual but form fitting (slender but curvy) and less makeup.
Maybe she has a better than your average girl nextdoor vibe that draws them.
